Anyone have a Maxus

I have a new one but haven't tried it yet, way too cold here, mines a 3 1/2" for geese....I'm sure it's the same inside as the SX-3, made in the same place...I'll get to try it soon on the spring snow geese. The gun won't get much shooting in as that's all I will use it for, and I have too many shotguns for other uses, but when I do use it, it will be with heavy 3 1/2" loads only!!
I just picked mine up last month
taken it out once, performs really well, super easy to break down, no jamming issues.
one thing to remember wen breaking it down, take the action lever off so wen you take the action out for cleaning the spring action dosnt damage your gun.
one thing that took some getting use to was the sloped site on the barrel, but after a half your you get use to it.

I've had mine since December, absolutley no issues. Chewed through 500 skeet loads(both el cheapo's from CT and Kent sporting) and mixed in a few 3 1/2's with no issues. Very quick to break down and clean. Nice and light. Comes with stock shims and spacers for drop/cast/LOP adjustments, which was nice for me at 6'3". For test purposes, I've fully loaded the mag and pulled the trigger as fast as I could with no failures, no real world benefit to this, but nice to know it won't jam. I am really happy with mine, and have no reservations in recommending it.
By the way I read this, it sounds like you are taking out the action lever and then pushing the bolt release button, and letting the bolt fly out of reveiver? The proper way is to open the action, remove the barrel, hold the action lever, push the bolt release button, and let the bolt forward slowly. Then remove the lever, and pull the bolt out with your fingers. If I've read your post wrong, I stand corrected, but I just wanted to point this out.
I have had the maxus in mossyoak duckblind 3.5 inch since last october,shot a bunch of geese with it with both 3 and 3.5 inch rounds no issues.
Shot about 40 2-3/4 inch light target rounds on clay,no issues.
Shot 6 coyotes with 3.5 inch deadcoyote and 2 coyotes with rem 3 hd bb.
I love the gun,it handles great,is very light to tote around and points really well for me.
The supplied shims are cool but i did not need them,i did use one 1/2 inch butt shim and left the factory installed neutral cast shim in and it fit me real good.
The gun strips down and cleans up super easy.
Excelent trigger,the best i have felt from factory.
The finish so far has been very durable,i have hunted the gun quite hard up to this point with no signs of wear.
Recoil and muzzle climb was on parr with the gold and silver models even with 3.5 inch shells which is really good considering this gun is super light,like a pound lighter than the gold and silver.
Nice big safety but i do like the safety on the silver and golds better.
I really like the gun,but with all the positives i did have one negative.
Back in january while out hunting coyotes in -15 temps i leaned the gun up against a tree while setting up the caller and decoy(,i know its a no no but hey i have done it a million times with no real ill results)how ever upon returning to my gun it had fallen over.
I really wasnt concerned at all but i did have to field strip the gun right there as the action and the end of the barrel was full of snow.
Upon removal of the forearm i noticed that a small tab of plastic on the lower right inside of the forearm that goes into the receiver to keep the forearm snug had snaped off and was stiil in its place in the receiver.
The tab really dosent do much and you cant really notice its even missing,the gun still functions perfectly with out it.
I really couldnt believe it broke just from falling over into the snow.I guess sub zero temps and plastic dont mix to well.
Any how i was in contact with browning about getting a warranty forearm and they told me i would have to shipp the entire gun,not just the broken forearm and tab back to browning in the US for inspection with POSSIBILITY of warranty.
I dont want to do this for fear of being without my gun for longer than i want.
They told me they would shipp me a new forearm for dealer cost at 125.00 dollars if i didnt want to shipp the whole gun in.
Right now i am contemplating what to do and still hunting with the gun as is and there is absolutly no issue to not having this tab.
I have also since tried to repair it twice with super glu and plastic bonder but it just breaks away again.
In the end i may just live with it as is as i can see this issue coming up again with a new stock.

Other than that small almost insignifigant failure of the forend tab i really think it is a great shotgun and have contemplated buying another one in the stalker model.
Or maybe i will just get another silver as i have never had a single issue with that platform.
All in all a very nice gun that i would recomend to anyone looking for a nice light,easy to maintain auto.

When i first picked one up I didn't like the low comb feel, but I changed out the spacer in the store and all was well, it brought the comb up to give me the sight picture I am comfortable with. The way it came, if i put my cheek firmly on the stock, the front bead disappeared below the receiver.
Just bought a 26" with the 3" chamber. Nice and light, and seems to handle really well. Swapped out the neutral shim for one that drops the comb slightly and adds a bit of cast off, and now it fits perfectly. Hopefully get it out for the first time to the range this Sunday.
When you open the fore-end latch lever, the little clamshell that holds the front swivel in place opens as well. Insert swivel, and close the lever to lock everything back in place.
