Its a 243 win and it has brno as well as "762" on top of the receiver. I can't find any hits on "brno 762" so I'm not sure if that's what it is. Anyhow, I haven't shot it yet and was wondering what folks in the know, know about it...thanks!

Just a quick look in a book and they say that if you have a action marked "CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA, A.S. BRNO VZ 24" then you have one of the best Model 98 type ever made for a military action.

Comparing it too the pics in here I would say that someone has cut the side of the receiver out and thats why the VZ 24 is missing. I could be completely wrong I am no expert at all. Made from 1924-1945.

Brno (Czech) Sporting Rifle.

Yep; it started out as a CZ-24 8mm Mauser, was converted to 7.62 Nato by the Israelis, and was then converted to 243 Win after it was surplused out.

Thanks guys. If one was selling it, what would be a ballpark price?
Not much, in honesty. It looks like someone wanted to practice learning gunsmithing. As a result the gun has been pretty badly butchered. The stock, the action etc. The rear reciever ring has really been butchered, and from the pics the height looks wrong (could just be the pics). As is, 125$-ish.
As parts, you would likely get more.
