I have been looking at the Savage 64 TRR SR and like what I see .

The 10 rd mag only situation is a little disappointing though .
I have a Savage 93FV in 22WMR with a Boyds Tacticool stock already and really like it so the fit of it should be fine.....and seeing as Boyds wont ship that stock to Canada anymore these rifles are looking really interesting.

How reliable and accurate are these ?? Can the trigger be polished similar to the Ruger 1022 to smooth the trigger pull ?

I’ve got one. I like it….now. On my first range trip it was showing great promise for the first 3 or 4 magazines worth but then the groups started opening up dramatically. I noticed the barreled action seemed lose in the stock and upon a closer inspection it looked as though the front action screw was lose. No big deal just tighten it up and bingo the groups get better again…. For two magazines worth of shooting and back to steadily opining groups and a lose front action screw. OK this time I take it apart to find out what the issue is. Looking at the area in the stock at the front of the action it is clearly crushed down. When the stock was inletted at Boyds they cut the support for the front of the action to a point where there was less than an eighth of an inch supporting it. I took it back to Wholesale Sports and they offered to get it repaired but I opted to glass bed the action as that was what I was planning anyway.
At this point I only have about 150 rounds through it but beyond the afore mentioned issue the rifle has been very reliable and surprisingly accurate. Not CZ452 varminter accurate but good none the less. I haven’t played with the trigger on mine but then again I find mine not bad out-of-the–box. So far I’m getting in the ½ inch range at 50m with Fed. Gold Medal target. Sorry no targets to post as its been 6 months since I last shot it and have miss-placed them.

I had one and it was fairly accurate. The trigger is long and a little heavy but not too too bad. Not easy to lighten like a ruger. It was very reliable once I got a mag that worked well (had to replace the original mag as it was causing all kinds of stoppages). The stock on this rifle is excellent. Really comfortable and rides the bags well.

I just bought one this weekend for a friend and I'm not overly impressed. Finish is a bit rough, machining marks and razor sharp edges are glaringly obvious, action and mag release is very stiff and charging handle is way too small for easy manipulation. There is no last shot hold open and the firing pin does peen the chamber face.

On the plus side, the trigger seems to be fairly good(better than a stock 10/22), the stock is comfortable and fairly functional, and it's actually made in Canada.

I did a break in with some CCI stingers and Rem Yellowjackets and it functioned perfectly but I haven't done any accuracy testing.

Yeah, now that you mention it the finish was quite rough on mine too. I would oil it and wipe it down with a paper towel and the paper towel would leave all kinds of bits behind, like it was rubbed on fine sandpaper.

Just ordered one from Ellwood Epps ($292.95 plus tax and shipping)and an extra mag ....I will post pics and my opinion of the rifle once I get it and take it out shooting

16 1/2" BBL, HEAVY FLUTED BBL, THREADED MUZZLE (1/2"-28), BLUED FINISH, TACTICAL STYLE SYNTHETIC STOCK, PICATINNY RAIL, DETACHABLE MAGAZINE, SWIVEL STUDS (3)

Well Thanks again to Ellwoods for another smooth deal...very fast shipping :D

My first impression is really good , the stock is very similar to the Boyds Tacticool I bought for my Savage 93FV 22WMR ,
The Boyds is a little wider at the forestock and the buttstock on the Boyds has a slightly raised section on the top of the butt.
The finish on the Savage stock has a more dull finish as well .

Mag release is the only thing that I dont care for so far , and I love the short barrel

Mounted my Bushnell 3200 elite 3-9x40 on it for now

I adore my 64s, but I'm biased..
My first (and still a fav) .22 was my Cooey 64. 25 years ago!

N'er handled one of these, but can't see any deficits to a solid barrel, and comfy stock.

:D ^^^^ Same here... My Winchester-Cooey 64B is my super fav rifle... The Savage 64 is a modernized version of it. I've never had an issue with the Savage magazines... I have 2 original Cooey mags, and 3 Savage 64 magazines that I use in my 64B and have never had a hiccup. "Super7" did you ever find the probelem with the original magazine?

"Chalkriver" I really like your .22, it looks very very nice. :)
