Hey guys,

I ordered one of these from Joe-Brook firearms in Brandon late last week. Canada post says "out for delivery" so should be soon.

Leaving for ten days vacation so won't get to shoot it for a couple weeks.

Anybody has experience with these sweet little rifles? I have not found many first-hand experiences and it seems they're tough to find in 204 ruger these days. Lots of 6.5 Grendel and 7.62x39 kicking around though.

I had one earlier this year in 7.62x39. The first time I picked it up at home, I dropped the mag out of it onto my feet. The mag release is in front and very easy to hit with your hand. I checked on line for extra mags and found there were none. I disliked the whole set-up and didn't want a rifle that I couldn't trust. I sold it w/o even firing it.

Google it!

Yes I am aware of the mag dropping issue. Really unfortunate. I have some ideas about keeping that little bugger in place that I'm hoping will work.

I had a 223 and just sold it to finance some other projects. I had filed down and radiused up the mag release. Was able to carry it in the modified state without ever dropping the mag. The spring is strong enough that once you lose the advantage of the longer lever, it took a deliberate press on the new short tab to release the mag. The composite mags were very well made. I would buy another over a floor plate version again.

Okay guys would the floor plate from a Weatherby Vanguard S2 (223 caliber) work in the 204???

Problem being the action is smaller than the regular short action of the weatherby, and I googled just to check, there doesn't seem to be floor plate available that would fit.
