She was born in France, with the sirname, "Gevarm." Not sure, or even close, on year of birth, because you know how it is, tread lightly on such matters.
She will have to live in the same closet as my similar aged little girl who was born in Italy, with the surmaname, "Weatherby," so I have to use some tact here.
I haven't tried her out yet, but with that long clip, she should be good for quite a spell.
Can we get some comments from someone who may own, once lived with or have seen, her sister?

Roger at shooters choice in arrowwood knows alot about them, i've seen a couple in his shop, the mags are extremely hard to find and costly, they wear out fast because i have heard they are easily changed over to auto runs (rumored) and the mags can't handle the stress.

And if I remember correctly, this semi fires from an open bolt/breach block with a radial ridge on its face that sets off the rim fire primer.

I recall about 1955 or so, they were advertised in the US Gun mags at around $60-70.

And the Bren too fires from an open breach of course, semi and full auto.

I know that a friend has a Gevarm that he inherited but I think that he wants to keep it. Compared to the one that Bruce shows above, my friend's is more of a sister ridden hard and put away wet.

There are some posts - Trade-ex recently got a batch of them.

I've posted some manuals, instructions, etc that i got from a fan on this site- if you don't find them send me an email and I'll send you some info.

I think it's Western Gun parts (?) sells Triple K mags that will allegedly fit... but you can order them from Triple K and they say they'll ship them to Canada for about the same or less (depending on duty) as Western.

Nice gun Had a new one back in 66, didn't like heavily lubed ammo in the cold. Fires fast and easy to clean. Long mag is pain to load often but watch the empties, they come out hot. Good luck with it

I've got the same one. It's an E1, they also made A1-4 models as well. The mags are not interchangeable between models (not always).

They are a sweet little gun, take down (screw on the from of the forearm) models are always 'sweeter'.

I got mine from my father -in -law, he bought it new in the 60's. For $45 it. And with 4 mags 2 hicap and 2 8 rnds and a cheapie 22 scope. From the Bay!

Now those 8 rndrs are worth $70 and the 20's are worth upwards of $200.

The reason they are fairly short lived in the market place was they are fairly easy to make FA. And they dont always stop when you let off the trigger......

Cheers!

An older gentleman I know has one, he said it shoots really accurately.

They are not safe to shoot if they are not firing semi-auto, open-bolt or not. The trigger group is not a full-auto trigger group or even trying to be, pulling the trigger only releases the bolt once, the trigger has to reset before you can release the bolt to fire again. There are schematics you can google, it is blindingly simple but definitely not full-auto.

Thanks a lot for the good information, guys.
Going to the range this afternoon , so will see how she goes.

The biggest complaint I have about my E1 is that with all the moving parts (a by product of an open bolt design) it makes it very hard to shoot groups.

A way to lessen this effect is to swap the spring and weight behind the bolt, unfortunatly this also results in a short stroke condition when it gets a bit dirty.

Another thing to remember is that there is no ejector, it is part of the magazine feed lip. This is one reason mags are so hard to find..... It is a wear item and after a high round bout is reached on a mag it starts to get a bit dodge. The only way to fix it is to replace the mag.

Have fun at the range!

A friend of mine has one but we never got to shoot it because it was missing the mag. He said it occasionally fired short bursts, sounded like alot of fun :)

Had the little girl to the range today.
She performed very well, shot in semi auto mode, just like she was supposed to.
