Savage Mark II G

I was thinking about getting this rifle, and wanted to know if it was any good, and why or why not. Can anyone fill me in? And is the advertised price of $199 decent or extortion?

My brother in law has a Lakefeild MkII, from before Savage bought them out. He's never had any issues with his. The new models have the Savage Accu-trigger, should be better still.

If its got the AccuTrigger (doesn't look like it in the photo) I would say its worth it! Have fun.

The one on SIR has accu-trigger, which is where i got the price from. So then I guess it's a go...?
Unless anyone has anything bad to say about this rifle...?

I have one and it's a tack driver, but the trigger is really bad. The accutrigger should make it a fine little .22

When you talk to the person from SIR (1) ask them if this has the accutrigger or not. (2) Ask them if they have it in stock. If it isn't in stock and you go ahead with the order, they will bill it to you any way and you could wait a long time to get it. If they don't have it in stock, don't order it. This advice applies to any mail order company. I have ordered from SIR a few times and had excellent service and fast delivery, about 5 business days to Ontario. If things are still running as smoothly I should have MY new Savage Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

Ah thanks for the help guys.
I deal with SIR quite a bit; I got my SKS from them and it arrived in about 9 days, all the way to Calgary, so I was impressed.
Looks like I'll be adding this Savage to my small collection.
