Anyone heard anything about this new Rem700 VTR

i dont think they are 'bad', but realise that it is essentially a low-end Remington SPS with 3 flutes on the barrel and a 2-toned stock, not some uber new development.
IMO consider scraping together a bit more money and get one of the higher end Remington Varmint rifles.
if i wanted inexpensive varmint gun i would pick up a 'traditional' SPS-V for $550...
if i was spending more i would either step up to ~$770ish for the 700 VLS w/ laminate stock or squeeze the wallet a little harder and get the 700 VSF w/ HS Precision stock for $950. both guns are not of the SPS line so they will have much better fit & finish. id rather pay for a superior stock and better fit & finish than for 3 flutes on a barrel (the VSF is fluted).

i dont recall Jeff Quinn ever saying anything bad about any rifle. hes not going to bite the hand that feeds him and sends him new toys every month.
thats not meant to imply that the gun is good or bad... just that you should take everything you read in gun rags and on sites like gunblast with one massive grain of salt. more like a rock of salt. or even a salt lick block.
that said, gunblast is a great source for pictures and close-ups of rifles, and disassembled actions that you ordinarily wouldnt see at most gunstores.
