I have been all over the 'net looking for this cartridge, and any info on it. I have one here, and I am wondering also if anyone knows if there is a Canadian based company I could get to make me some custom dies for it?

I need to find someone to produce a set of dies for me 'cause the set I have just won't work with my press. It's very frustrating.

What is he looking at for a set of custom dies, $200.00 canadian? Plus the new 6 month wait because almost all of those USA manufactures are back ordered on every piece of gear that they make. Be quite a while before you are loading for this rifle. FS
Lee and Hornady were both pretty reasonable last time I ordered from them, CH4D even more so. RCBS took the longest, and cost the most. FWIW - dan

None of the above, unfortunately. It's a remington .222 improved. The only thing I've found on the net even close to this is a reference someone makes to a .222 rem. imp. 'rimmed'. Never seen one of these before. It was a custom rifle built by some match shooter, who sold it to an old fella I know some 20 odd yrs ago. It's an incredible rifle to shoot, it shoots sub moa every time, and weighs about 15 pounds!
Well, if you have fired brass, just send three of them to the die maker of your choice and they'll make the dies for you. The problem with the phrase "improved", is that there are numerous variations. It's like saying "car, with tires". Check PO Ackley's books for a few of the variations possible, if you're interested. - dan

Yes, I know. Or rather, it's like saying a '69 Camaro with an Edelbrock 600 carburator instead of a factory one. Thanks for the advice, I'm working on who to send it to. I was just hoping to find a company in Canada who can do it is all. All the die makers I'm aware of are in the US.
Just read through this again, and noticed you do have dies.
The set you have, are they for 222 Improved? If so, why won't they work with your press?
If the threads are too small for your press, it will be an easy fix.

It's a set the guy designed, I guess, to use without a press at the range with a small mallet. It is threaded, and the threads work in the press, but I can't seem to get factory .222 Rem. brass to go up into the die deep enough to adjust the size enough to chamber in the rifle. It's like the die is too long, and the shell holder bottoms out on it before the case goes in all the way.
Somehow the original owner did it before though, 'cuz with the gun I also received about 25 regular .222 Rem. rounds for fire forming that were handloaded by him, and they chambered well, just a little stiff closing the bolt. Then I went and bought some factory stuff to use to fireform the brass, and factory .222 Rem will not chamber at all. The bolt won't even close, and if I push the case jams badly and the bolt still won't close. I guess I was just hoping I could get a die set made that would be easier to deal with altering factory ammo enough to chamber in the rifle so I can fireform some more brass for it.
