Anyone here buy the Colt BOA???

I would have bought that sight unseen. I have purchased 2 other Colts from Epps sight unseen and have not been disappointed.

I’m disappointed that I missed that Boa. That’s for sure!

The 2 first items on the page were sold when i saw it, look like they were sold when they first show up, mystery.

I always look for a snake gun on their site since i got a good score on a King Cobra

Oh well, somebody got a once in a lifetime deal. I will continue the search for the Boa even though I am not optimistic, but its only been a few decades :)

No it was there for a few minutes, I looked at the price and said wtf?? So I did a quick google search of the BOA prices and immediately came back, hit the "add to cart" but ffs I wasn't signed in to my account. By the time I finally was signed in and started check out it was sold!!:mad::mad::mad:

Oh well sh1t happens and do a really need another safe queen with uncertainty in the air?? Well maybe just this one!!

Oh well cant get them all, i was outside the farm shooting my snubnose alaskan 44 mag and between cooling time i was refreshing pages on my IPhone.

What makes the BOA any different than the Trooper Mk V? Other than the name on the barrel.... just curious.

Maybe one of the experts can chime in but it was explained to me as having the improved lock work over the python (less prone to timing issues and I gather similar to the lock work that went into the V) but fitted and finished to Python standards, so much more refined than the Trooper.

The Boa was made by Colt as a special run with the entire run bought by Lew Horton Distributing, a big gun distributor. Unlike many special distributor guns, the Boa is considered to be a factory model.

These were Colt Trooper Mark V revolvers fitted with a Python barrel and given the Royal Blue Colt finish. There were 600 each made with a 4" barrel and 600 with a 6" barrel. There was also a Boa set of one 4" and one 6" gun with consecutive serial numbers in cases supplied by Lew Horton. There were 100 of these two gun sets made. The individual gun retail price from Horton was $525. Retail on the two gun sets was $1,200.

While the Boa looks like a Python they are totally different internally. The Python uses the E/ I frame with a leaf mainspring while the Boa is a medium size V frame and uses the less costly and easier to make coil mainspring design of the Trooper MK V and later King Cobra. It required less hand fitting but also required less maintenance with a steady diet of heavy magnum loads.

What makes them special today is the fact that only 1200 were made and Colt collectors will pay a lot to add a new in box Boa to their snake collection. To fetch these high prices it must be NIB. A used Boa without box or papers is still valuable but I would venture and say that probably less than half an NIB.

Other than that, the Boa simply is a Trooper MK V frame mated to a Python barrel and given the Royal blue finish.

Good to know. I was under the mistaken impression the action had been tuned. Still feel like I missed out but slightly less.

There was a King Cobra the other day - gone.

Blued Python up right now. Let’s see how long it lasts.

Edit: Python is gone. King cobra went up and sold soon after.

Colt revolvers were all works of art in their own way. I didn’t plan on being a collector.... it just happened. They’re really well built and a pleasure to shoot. Im not surprised they sell out fast. I’m pissed I keep missing them off Epps. I guess I have to start checking out their site daily.

Colt did make some lovely revolvers, and art is a very apt description. I had one of mine out the other day To try out the camera on my new phone....some things belong in an art gallery or museum.
