I am curious about your opinions on the reticle. It seems useful, but also slightly cluttered to my eye. Im basing this off MFG website photos. Though on youtube it doesn't seem that bad. Actually it seems rather un-obstructive. Opinions? I was going to go vortex, but the quality to price point can be beat by other brands. IOR Athalon Delta etc

I have a NXS 5.5-22 and ATACR 5-25 Both of which I've loved using. But I'm going to FFP and mine are both SFP.

Another question, how do you like or dislike milrad? My other optics are both MOA, but the more I think about it the less it makes sense. This is Canada after all, and metric is king. I am a carpenter by trade so conversions and metric is almost second nature. And though I haven't decided on a range finder yet, I assume(eek) they can toggle yards and meters, yes? Im leaning towards the Sig Kilo2400abs.

Can't comment on IOR but as for reticles and adjustment MIL / MOA is truly personal preference. They're both angular units of measurement, and realistically will get you where you need to go - so to speak. Ones broken down into tenths, and one fractions. Theoretically, most MOA scopes actually have 1.047" adjustment at 100 yards... this can compound when you really get out there in distance, but in practice may not matter for you. Pick whichever unit you prefer, make sure the turrets match the reticle i.e. MIL/MIL or MOA/MOA.. none of that MOA adjustment and MIL-DOT reticle stuff.

There's an excellent video from Snipers Hide that explains the practical application of both.

Generally people have experienced higher than average failure rates with IOR and then there is the hassle of a return to Romania. Go over to our friends on Snipers Hide to read much more.

i would recommend any one of a number of other brands before I would consider IOR

I had the same idea as you to start with, then as I dug deeper I learned the IORs are known for there issues. I decided to go Kahles K624i. I love it, tracks perfectly and great glass, you should really look into them if you haven’t yet, price is same as the Vortex GII but in my opinion much superior in tracking and glass. Vortex would be good if we lived in the US and we had the price advantage they do.

MRAD is great as long as you know how long a centimetre is.
