More specifically, does anyone use it to hunt grouse? I use a 22 to head shoot ruffies and I was just curious if anyone uses SK plus for that and what the results were. Obviously any bullet to the head of a bird will kill it.

If it's a CZ, then the first shot might be a bit sketchy. My 452 throws the first shot out of a cold barrel about 3/8 to half an inch high and slightly right fairly predictably at 25-50 yards. While it's less than ideal, you sight in for this if you can, split the difference, etc. The alternative is to hold slightly off for the first shot.
I haven't shot the 455 recently, but as I recall it does something similar. Apparently hammer forged barrels are notorious for this.

A 14.3 grain pellet at 400 fps kills grouse stone dead... I think you are good with ANY .22 ammo that you can shoot accurately.

Cold bore flyers don't affect all or even most CZ's. If they do occur, they certainly wouldn't cause a miss on a grouse head unless shooting at distances approaching 50 yards on account of the flyer being just off a one-hole group. There should be no question about whether standard velocity .22LR ammo has the energy to kill a bird at hunting distances.

I haven't shot the gun enough yet to know what it does with the first shot. I might also try some CCI Standard Velicity as it's a much drier bullet and might prevent the cold bore flier if it turns out that it does throw the first shot.

I prefer a hollow point like the cc I mini mag for hunting. I'm sure sk st plus will work fine.Heck I've killed grouse with rocks and sticks before.

Them cold bore fliers be a little more than "just off" a one hole group. Here is the RFC thread pertaining to this issue: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=333628&highlight=cold+bore+flier and yes this is an issue that is not rifle brand specific so diagnosis and treatment are the same for anyone afflicted.

As a side note, where you gettin' SK ammo? Wanna sell some? :d

I use SK standard on nuissance squirrels and such rodents with great success. The accuracy of the round in my 452 with that ammunition permits precise shot placement... I'd be satisfied up to 100yards with that combination and that game. Like large game, a 1000cal Ultra supersonic, short, long, uber magnum bullet hose is useless when shot into the air around the animal. With adequate energy, in the correct place... pull the trigger with confidence.

I shoot gophers with SK HV HP. It can almost do 1/2" five shot groups at 50 yards out of my Savage BTVS. I would expect the subsonic SK Standard + to do under 1/2". And if you can hold it accurate enough, should be just fine on grouse. I have never seen the so called cold barrel flyer effect. I would not get many gophers if my gun did that. However I have seen a clean cold barrel with some storage gun oil produce a significant flyer. That is easy to cure. Just shoot it and keep the barrel dirty. I only clean about once every brick shot...
