Wondering what new rifles or new to you rifles guys are carrying this year.

I’m carrying another oldie, a Ross Scotch Deer Stalker 1907-E in 280 Ross. It had a Lyman 50 on it at one time and then later had been D&T’d for a scope and a custom mount made that fit the Lyman 50 mounting holes. They cut the butt and put a Pachmyer on it. I made some white line spacers to gain some LOP back, removed the bubba’d iron sights, and fitted a pair of sling eyes. Also switched the Weaver K2.5 out for a V1.5-4.5 which I feel suites the area we hunt better. This one prefers 154 and 175gr .284 Hornady Interlocks over anything else I’ve tried, including several types of .287 bullets. Slowly zeroing in on a load for elk for the fall. Cant wait to get it bloody!

Hmmm where to start lol. New to me custom cz550 in 9.3x62, new to me ross 1905 303brit, new to me custom Serbian mauser 257 AI…. It I will also bring out my husky 649 9.3x62 20” barrel full stock(I had that one for a while but never connected with game yet!)
Oh and maybe my withworth express rifle in 458 win mag if it gets back from the gunsmith before then end of the bison season!

Honestly, I might try to fill one of my deer tags with my case color Henry Big Boy carbine in 44 mag.

If anyone reading this is interested in paying the dear sum these go for now, I know of a shop that has the above on the shelf. Along with a 20" rifle in 357 mag, I believe.

Nice rifle, and chambering.

I'll be running a new to me 257 weatherby vanguard high country this year.
You'll never want to use another rifle again once you start using that.

The 257 wby might be my favourite cal of all time. It just hits hard, speed kills. I shoot a 115gr Berger at 3350fps out of mine, it has a 24" barrel.

I have it zero'd at 300 yards which to some sounds dumb but 99% of my hunting with this rifle shots are in the wide open flat lands of SK, never know how far you're going have to shoot.

So at 100 yards i'm 2.6" high, 200 3.2" high, 300 0, 400 7" low, 450 13.5" low and 500 21" low. So basically 0-300 yards I aim for heart, will double lung. 350-400, put it on their spine and watch em fold, 500 a foot above their back and the freezer is full. Its a tough caliber to not like thats for sure.

I picked up a new to me, test fired only remington 700 in 280AI thats been done up. 24" IBI 1-8 spiral fluted barrel, trued 700 spiral fluted action, TT trigger, wildcat stock. Weighs 6lbs on the nose. I had to send it to the smith who built it to get a feeding issue sorted out but I should have it back here in a few weeks to get a scope mounted and start testing loads. Don't know if I'll actually use it or just continue on with my 257 wby but the 280 AI might get its debut here this fall cause I dont wanna ding up the 257 all that badly.

Heading out tomorrow for a Bear hunt near Hornepayne tomorrow for a week. Bringing along a Remington 452 in 30-06 from 1974. I gave it a good overall cleaning and I’m looking forward to bringing home a cooler full of meat. Will post pictures later.

280AI is a beautiful caliber too. It’s kissing cousin to this 280 Ross performance wise when using re formed 300 Win mag brass. We lose a touch of case volume over original Ross cases doing that. AI load data is closer than published 280 Ross load Data. They claim 7mm REM Mag start loads are safe for the 280 Ross but they are not, they are insanely dangerously hot.

I have a new Marlin 336 in 30-30 with a Leupold scout scope mounted on it. If I don't tag out during bow season, this will see some action in the woods.

Nothing new here for this fall so far.

I do have a Sportsman 78 (M700) 358Winchester in the works that "might" be ready in time but not counting on it. Might not even be allowed in the woods this fall with the fire ban and woods closures.

hoping to fill a tag with my Parker hale safari 3006 I brought back to life last year. Would
Also really like to fill a tag with my husq 146 9.3x57
