It's out about the same as my other one was sight is a bit to the left and the op rod is a bit to the right just needs a bit of vice and wrench to keep my #### from falling off lol.

i think we need a "pay it forward" barrel vice ;)

my front site is canted to the left as well, needs to addressed before i take it out shooting. may end up buying a vice just to add to my collection of tools

I would too, just got a new barrel and a bunch of new parts for the Norinco receiver. Any love?

Or do you Calgary guys maybe want to invest in a vice and receiver wrench? I guess that's a fair bit of cash to use it once.

I know a read something a while back, I think it was done by Barney actually, where he used a drill press vice and a bench vice, or it might have been two drill press vices.

I kind of think if you took your time and were careful, you could close a vice, with sine cardboard sheet in it to protect the barrel and receiver, around the barrel where the op rod runs near the threads, in such a way that it wouldn't really be a clamping force (enough to keep it from falling but that's it), but that the jaws, protected by cardboard, would "hook" the barrel in place so you could attach the drill press vice to the receiver and use that as a the wrench. Princess auto has wicked deals on either of those vices if you don't have then.... I may just get up the sack to try this if no one has a barrel vice and receiver wrench in town

Darn! I feel your anxiety bruthas! Now about that perceived indexing problem. Often it's just that: perceived. At that Nov 9 2013 clinic we had at least four M14 brothers with indexing concerns.

We knocked off the Chinese FS units since many if them are like Justin Turdeau; leaning over to the left! :). Get it?

Then I Used my M1A flash suppressor and every one of them did not need reindexing. And that's why I continue to sell the M1A flash suppressors. The Chinese were always a bunch of freaking lefties as I suspected.

I promise that I will see you all in Calgary this August after canceling my trip out west this summer. Never again will I spend the summer in Ontario. I miss the adventure of the open road.

I have your backs!

Cheers, Barney

Barney, you are absolutely right! That flash suppressor I got from you fixed my communist leaning barrel problem. Unfortunately, that won't help me install a new right wing barrel :p

Can you confirm if the vice method I posted above is a feasible alternative if you are real careful, or is it all kinds of bad idea?
