Anyone in Ontario seeing bears yet? If so, where?

Up here north of Nipigon there is still lots of snow in the bush with not very warm temperatures in the local forecast. I walk in the bush every day for a couple of hours and in some spots there is 2 1/2 to 3 feet of snow yet. I think its safe to say it will be a late spring around here.

Bears are already moving in Sudbury city limits, they have been on the news... still lots of snow and 40 cm more coming over the next few days.

Seen a wowdy wabbit owt in the back yard yesturday afternoon.
And a gatto rowberre too.

No Yogi's oar Bewbooz's yet.

Lotsa Kinder Sirprises coming up tru the melting snow though......................

We had a really good mast crop last fall here, maybe they'll sleep longer.
I want to get in to bait, but the damned trail passes through a ravine that's always chock full of snow. Sun doesn't get in there.
Forecast calls for damned near a foot of snow here. I hope they are wrong and it rains. (not freezing rain, they can shove that)

There is always a couple of bears hanging out on my kids' campus every year. There has been bear sightings posted at the university since October and warnings that they are still around. Rumours have it that they are 1st year bears in the gender studies program and spend most of their time in the library because of the free wifi. Hibernating behind books is probably why not too many people see them... no one uses books anymore.

Heard a bear was struck and killed by a car this weekend outside London. Bear tracks in the snow but no sighting at my camp over Easter (Powassan area). No bears this past weekend though - just many deer, some turkeys, sandhill cranes, grouse, geese, ducks, and a very cold early woodcock.

Yeah, I've been seeing more deer this year than at any time in the past 7 or 8 years. I've even seen several herds. Good sign. No bears around here, though, so no sign.

Me too. Way, way more deer than I have seen in that management unit in 50+ years. Would have been business as usual for a spring drive in wmu 47, but to see 20+ deer at mid-day in unit 48 over a 15km drive is exceptional. Local deer, not yard migrants.

i have a bear roaming around my house at 9:30 every night for the past week, had to chase him away after he started destroying some stuff in the yard...seems to be a little more than a year old. Im in the kincardine area
