anyone interested in traditional lever gun hunt this yr

I drew three Mule Deer tags for the upcoming season. Any time I hunt anything larger than a coyote my hunts are always lever gun hunts as I only own 1 centrefire larger than a .223 and thats the Winchester Model 71 .348 my Grandfather passed down to me. I'll probably do my best to try to film filling out my Mule Deer buck tag but no promises. As for open sights? Sorry but can't see well enough any longer for that so there is a Leupold 3-9 x40 on a side mount on the old girl. My Grandfather mounted a scope on her in '61 and used it that way all throughout his hunting days. Ammo will be factory Winchester Western( old yellow box) 200 grain silvertips as that's all I have and I don't load my own. I have 11 boxes of factory loads. Should last me the rest of my hunting days as I hunt big game very infrequently.

Love my Browning Model 71 .348, same drill, stocked up on the Old Yellow Boxes of Winchester 200gr Silvertips. Still use the iron sights but optics are coming soon.

Good response, I forgot I posted this last night an just got the wood in between rain showers and boiled the jug, then I remembered to check it.

sounds very promosing!

Don't know if I'll use it this year, but all my hunting used to be done with a Winchester 94 in 30-30... worked great, just got tired of having to strip it down after it rained on me every day and threatened to rust. Iron sights are just fine within 100-200 yards, and the 30-30 won't be doing much more than that either. Combine that with rarely seeing a deer outside 100 yards and lever guns are great for hunting. Lots of people use them, they just don't post on youtube.

Guessing the Australian gun-grabbers are getting a hard-on for lever actions now they've gotten everything else? Might be worth having some CGN'ers post videos of hunting with their lever action shotguns :)

haha- the Adlar was an ordeal, although they changed every single magazine tube to a smaller 5 shot model at customs, and now people on the lists are starting to get their hands onto and some are even selling as they are over the c r a p .

I think we are on a reasonably solid plateau for now... ideally we need to unite as one nation and have a nation gun law and codes etc.... each state varies so much!!
