Hi, I have recently set a goal to have killed a Grizzly bear by 2020. That should give me some time. It will probably be banned by then, so I am trying to get on it ASAP. How do I hunt Grizzlies? Where do I hunt them? I would rather not pay a guide $20k to get one. I would love to pay someone eles who has hunted them or seen them in other areas a nominal fee to take me on a hunt. Does anyone have any knowledge on how to do this? From start to finish would be great.

Unless you are a resident of BC, you can't hunt grizzlies without a guide.

If you are a resisdent, you need to win an LEH tag.

I have hunted grizzly, and shot grizzly, but I've never had my own grizz tag.

Bigbore 14 that is a admirable goal and realistic expectations of the demise of grizzly hunting..probably sooner than 2020..IMHO..

I have hunted and guided grizzlies for now over 30 years and it is indeed a wise man that seeks help when dealing with such a formidable adversary...it is an amazing feeling of excitement and adrenaline when in grizzly country either the coastal area or the mountains... each has its own challenges and charms..and yes the guided way IS the best way however certainly out of the reach of most hard working BC residents so plan B is usually the only option.Be certain your "partner " knows what the hell she or he is doing..and then keep putting in or LEH draws..

I have some suggestions on areas to put in for and am always willing to help every hunter here in anyway I can..with a reasonable amount of experience in most hunting  and a exellent knowlege of bear hunting and bears habitat..hunting..areas ..etc.. and I really do enjoy helping others be successful..especially on their first animals....send me a PM and I will help you in any way I can...

here is the last guy I helped on his first Grizzly hunt..:dancingbanana: 25 13/16 New # 32 in the ALLTIME world record book..and yes Tim is STILL pumped....I am currently helping 4 grizzly hunters both coastal and mountains with tyheir spring G bear hunts..

There are few areas in the Yukon where you may hunt with a resident host but as has been pointed out, you need a guide in BC.

I shot a grizz in the Yukon about a dozen years ago....what an awesome experience!

It is illegal to act as a guide for someone in bc for even a 'nominal' fee.

Bigbore - illegal discussions are NOT allowed on this board, and you're really not being smart advertising for an illegal guide on this forum. It's read by a lot of people who will turn you in at the drop of a hat for breaking those rules.
