Hello anyone know anything about using 80 gr. berger bullets in an AR 15
I have some 80 gr .223 and would like to know if they can be used in the AR
without blowing up the rifle because they have to be push into the brass so far.?
Thx

The Bergers are very close in length to the Sierra 80s. You could very well go with the starting loads suggested in the Sierra manual for 80s or contact Berger directly for load data.
You won't get them to work seated to mag length. Sierra's manual states 2.550" C.O.A.L., but you may want to measure to lands on your rifle before you decide on that.

This is advanced loading, obviously.

Berger 80 VLDs (and Sierra 80 HPMKs) are meant to be single-loaded. They are not suitable for making magazine-length ammo (2.26"), but when loaded out so that the bullet is at or near the lands (2.55"+), they can make super accurate long range ammo (600 yards+). If they are not what you want, find somebody who wants them and trade.

If you want magazine-length 600y ammo, try the Sierra 77 HPBT.
