anyone know if Wolf 45ACP 200gr SWC is jacketed?

Generally they are lead

A semiwadcutter or SWC is a type of all-purpose bullet commonly used in revolvers. The SWC combines features of the wadcutter target bullet and traditional round nosed revolver bullets, and is used in both revolver and pistol cartridges for hunting, target shooting, and plinking. Full wadcutters frequently have problems feeding from magazines reliably in automatics, so SWCs may be used when a true WC is desired but cannot be used for this reason.

Im looking to buy an antique 6 shot pistol chambered for these. I will use it for bear defence when im fishing or in the woods. Will this round have enough power to stop a grizzly?

Aces for posting on a 2 year old thread!

Do you have a permit to carry a handgun for bear defense? I didn't think protection during fishing trips was enough justification.

Also, if your pistol is an antique, you may want to double-check the chambering--when I think "antique revolver", I think .45 Long Colt before .45 ACP.

I wouldn't recommend it myself. You'd probably have to stick it in the bears mouth and fire all six rounds and then maybe it would run away laughing....

What is the best calibre/gun combination for Grizzly bear defence
I'm sure this is on everyone's mind and this topic is so seldom discussed.:nest::nest:

I am looking for antique revolvers instead of carrying my twelve gauge it gets heavy on a 30k hike and the only god damned pistol you can carry in this communist country is a relic. No I dont have a carry permit or I would carry a 454 casul. You #######s with your smart assed comments can shove them up your asses. I know damned well what works best. My twelve gauge or a pjstol that will land me in jail. Now if you dont have anything constructive to say then you know where you can go.

If you know damn well what works best, then what are you asking us for? But seriously, you're hilarious, you hit a grizz with any pistol round short of a .50 and unless you manage to shoot it in the eye you're probably just going to tickle it or enrage it. But hey, if you really want to get eaten by a bear, by all means ignore us

By the way, antique pistols are typically built for loadings that are quite weak compared to modern loads. You try and force enough powder into a .45LC to make it do more than tickle a grizz, and the gun is liable to blow up in your hand. Talk about making things easy for a hungry bear

Ok so now that the insults are out of the way... im not looking for the best thing im looking for the next best legal thing when it comes to something smaller than a folding mossburg. I do see your point about killing but not stopping in time.
Oh well.

Oh well.

Why not a KSG? Nice and compact and reasonably light.

Also, 14+1, in case the first few shots miss.

Nothing short of this:

You MIGHT be able to do it with an ol' 105 field gun, but you'd better make the shot count and practice reloading FAST. Them Grizzly's are tough mutha's.
