Anyone know of outfitters offering deals for Canadian residents

I wonder if there is a market for a meat hunt as opposed to a trophy hunt? Guides get to 'save' the trophy animals for another day. Resident hunters get a dollar break and better odds of connecting with a non-trophy moose, elk, deer, etc.

There is in the the USA, probably here also.

I have discussed that with guides in the USA on mule deer hunting trips.
Essentially they want you to shoot the oddballs etc to get them out of the gene pool

In BC pretty much all guides are operating on public land where it is legal for anyone to hunt, so guiding for non trophy animals rarely is the intent because someone else can simply shoot that big buck or bull the guide is trying to save for a high paying client.

In the states on large tracts of private land where nobody but the outfitter has access, it is possible to manage the heard better, but it comes at an additional cost to the hunter vs those with ample public land to hunt

A good friend of mine is a guide outfitter in BC. He didnt offer any hunts this season as it was just too costly to open camp, stock everything up, move horses, hire guides and cook etc. Its not a hugely profitable venture with clients paying full price. He does it because he loves it. I did get to hunt with him on a once of a lifetime guided hunt though that I will treasure forever.

Thats where i target, the city hunters who want to be right on the action, tomorow, an maybe shoot one tomorow... get to cut up their deer , and pack their free range organic meat back to melbourne/ sydney... its the same hunting, ya just not shootin antlers.... i find that is increasing down under.

the meat, is the trophy.

oh and dont forget to remember that hunt ;)
