got a 3.5-7 magnifier from ncstar with a red dot on top for my ar,

was 180$ all said and done, came w rings, the red dot, the scope, mounting clamp, the scope can be illuminated in red/green or non in black...

trying it out, looks good... a little too good... there something I am missing, or are these just a good bang for the buck? never heard of the brand before

There is a reason you get a pile of features for very few dollars. Don't get too excited as your excitement will be very short lived. Not too many reputable dealers carry ncstar anymore as quite frankly it is very poor quality. It does not hold zero, the clicks are not repeatable, the internals move after just a few dates with recoil, the lenses do not always focus well. No two nester products are the same.

Without exception every nester owner I personally know has had a bad experience with their ncstar product. Don't worry though you are not alone as many guys have sent their money to China, never to see it again.

Put it on a .22 and you might get some use out of it.

+1. I ignored the many posts on these optics being unsuitable for centrefire recoil, which proves I'm not as smart as I think I am; I try to learn from other people's mistakes, since it's faster and cheaper than making them myself.
You may be one of the few that has a NcStar hold up to the mighty .223, but I sure wasn't.

NcStar...???

No way... Get something from Leapers. :D

There are few universal truths... One is that decent optics are not cheap.
You get what you pay for every time when it comes to a scope.

Those are not very reliable scopes dont expect to much out of them, you are in for deception... Cheers. JP.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but I didn't put one on my .223 or advise the OP to.

Anyone else who has one with the illuminated reticule notice that there is no discernable difference between the 3 power settings? When I cycled through them I knew it was junk and it was immediately earmarked for rimfire only.

NCstar = Airsoft accessories.

If you look at your guns as toys then they are fine (nothing wrong with looking at your guns as toys as long as you don't treat them that way.)

hmm really, well i guess well see if the mighty 223 breaks this one after a bit, at least i have a .22lr conversion on the ar too

Clear optics, repeatable settings, are necessary for one to have confidence in his shooting and his equipment, no matter how good your ammo, rifle, or your shooting is, don't cheap out on this, or it's all for not.
