Good Morning Friends,

Recently ordered the V5s MilSpec+ and for the life of me I cannot find the diff between the V5 and V5s both in MilSpec+
If any of you know and are kind enough to explain, greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,
MM

Basically what the heck is the 's' for, what feature or upgrade does it speak to?
For those that are reading and aren't sure what this is, it's a Daniel Defense M4, quite a few "V"ersions out there.
Brother picked up the DDM4A1 MilSpec+ and after some research I went with the DDM4V5s Milspec+.
I know the diffs between these two i.e. Carbine Length Gas System versus Mid-Length Gas System, etc...
Just can't find the diff between the 5 and 5s. Even on the DD site I can't find the explanation or stats that differ on one vs the other.....or I'm blind.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

M4V5 has a 16" barrel
M4V5s has a 14.5" barrel with a pinned and welded flash suppressor. Made to be be US compliant sub-16" barrel without requiring a tax stamp ie the pinned/welded flash suppressor makes the barrel 16".

I believe the ones M4V5s that Wolverine brings in, do not have the flash suppressor pinned/welded into place and can be removed normally. But I've been wrong before.

Trinimon thank you very much!
We're getting into some CQB training and all 3 of us need a standard platform, so went with the DD.
That's the only reason I went for the 14.5" even though I tend to lean more towards a 16" barrel and up since I prefer longer range shooting over CQB.
You nailed it too, Wolverine is where we ordered the 2 rifles from.

Once it arrives I'll let you know if the flash supp is removable.
The SBR thing is more hassle in the US as opposed to here, so I wouldn't be surprised if the CDN ver has a removable one.

Thanks again!

No probs and big congrats.

DD rifles are awesome! My 1st gen M4V5 has never let me down. Bought it when Wolverine first started bringing them into Canada back in 2012(?). You'll be amazed at the accuracy of the DD barrels. My M4V5 has shot sub-MOA groups at 100yrds and another rifle with a DD 18" S2W barrel also shoots sub-MOA groups. Heck, I get 1" groups using cheap Campro 55gr FMJs behind 24gr Varget out of both barrels.

Thank you!
Lol...I'm so pumped waiting for this thing to arrive, had sleepless nights hahah.

Just picked up the Leupold AR MOD 1 3-9x40mm with Burris P.E.P.R. 1" QD today from Al Flaherty's.
I originally wanted the 4-12x but none in stock so this is a happy middle ground I think and a good price point. Paid $760 all in for the Leupold and PEPR Burris.
For now I'm going to use a FAB Defense bipod/vert. fore-grip I have and take off the DD one, since it's just a vert. fore-grip no bipod.
I feel dumb getting a real quality bipod for a 14.5" tube lol, but in time, as I get the 18" S2W barrel.

My brother just picked up the DDM4A1 - USSOCOM/SOPMOD RISII - that was the last one they had in stock otherwise I would have likely picked that one up.
I'm much happier getting the V5's mid-length gas as I'll mod it later on to a SPC 6.8 once I get through "mastering" the 5.56 lol.

This is the first AR that I own...shot a few but this one is a real beauty...comes in that bronze MilSpec+ Cerakote finish.
The only thing I wish it had is the Strength-to-Weight S2W barrel like you mentioned but I'll live with it as is, I'm sure the gun is far more accurate than I lol.

That's pretty sick on the Campro's lol...we shot the PPU 55gr last time at the range with a friend's DDM4A1.
Picked up a ton of different 5.56 ammo to test but none in a 55gr as the 1:7 twist I read prefers the heavier grain. Well we still have 300rds left of the PPU stuff.
Remington 62gr and Aguilla 62gr...I wanted to try the 75 and 77gr but it's too damn expensive to shoot at the range...for now sticking to 62 and see how that goes.

Looking forward to posting some pics once I get'er all rigged up!!

Finally got it! Took it out to the range, zeroed in a matter of minutes, groupings the size of a loonie and less at 50yds lol.
I'd post a pic but I can't upload one from my hard-drive, only a URL and I don't have it hosted anywhere.
