My guess is not an ammo pouch, it seems to have three compartments, plus that internal strap to hold a particular part of it in when the cover is opened.
Yeah if you look at the stiches on the front, about one third from the bottom, apparently holding the flap thing on the inside front. almost like a place to slide in some narrow or flat case?

Some more pics.
Middle divider is only stitched at the back.
Other internal flap is two pieces, both stitched together. One is stitched along bottom belt loop horizintal stitch line. Other end overlaps and is stitched to larger internal flap that rises higher than the top edge of the pouch under the top cover.
No markings at all, not even numbers.
