Anyone know whats up with Muddywaters taxidermy

Well I thought I would update this since it has been some time.
I did end up going to Jamie's house, actually his sister's house in mid Sept./08,and confronted a hungover Jamie. He had told me that all the capes were tanned and in storage and antlers. He would be moving everything to a relatives garage to finish everything off and my mount would be ready by end of October.Well that came and went again I left numerous e-mails,phone messages with him.
He finally phoned me back in mid December saying he had to find another supplier for eyes out of Ontario as Hawkins had closed the doors. The mount would be ready by late December providing the supplies come in.Well it is 15 months later from the time I took the deer in to be mounted.I have again tried to contact him numerous times in the last month with no response.I just want my cape and antlers returned as I have talked with a couple other taxidermists that would gladly mount it for me.I will eat the $150.00
Well he has left me with little or no options,of trying to settle this civily,in getting either the cape or antlers back I think it is time for.........................Legal action.....something I probably should have done 6 months ago.

yeah i would say if you can find the Jackass you should just take your Cape and get as far away from this guy as you can!!

Good luck and were all hoping you get it back!

jeepers creepers, boys call your local fish and wildlife. This gentleman is in posession of big game bits and pieces if he has a couple of sets of antlers he probably also has controlled items, call Fish and Wildlife, call the RCMP if thats who your local constabulary is and hell for ####s and giggles go ahead and sue the bugger but through trial and tribulation I have discovered you cannot get blood from a stone or in your case cash or horns, your not the first one to get hosed by your taxidermist its just a bloody shame

I have contacted RCMP they have told me until a crime has been committed there is nothing they can do.Manitoba NRO is aware of my situation and seeing what resources and where they can go with this.
I have left Jamie (the owner) numerous E-mails as well as messages to simply meet me and return my cape and hide.If he has nothing to hide or cover up you would think this would be the easiest way to deal with the situation.Providing he still has them.
I have also thought of putting an add in the local paper regarding Muddywater Taxidermy because there are probably others who are still looking for there mounts totally unaware on how to go about this.As he just packed up his shop, not informing anyone, hopeing no one would ever track him down. This would bring out strength in numbers.
Small claims court is another thing I am not ruling out.Although the severity of this could be too much for a small claim theft and fraud. There could be the exploitation of animal parts if he did sell the capes, antlers and other specimens that he had.Or he might have pitched everything into a Garbage bin.If he does have 10-15 individual wildlife violations against him as well as theft and fraud charges. The severity would probably be astronomical,I know I wouldn't want that against me.
In the long run I would sooner just like to get my antlers and cape back and help others get thiers back.:)
I have been civil about this long enough...............................Its time to take Action!

Never trust a dude named Jamie. It never turns out good.

All kidding aside. I hope you have a good ending to this. It seems like there are a multitude of taxidermists who "f" people around too much in Manitoba. Either they take 5 years to complete the piece, or they screw off with it. I think I may need some advice when I look for someone to do my bison.

damn kevin... I knew he was going to screw you.... when we talked last, I suggested you get the rack and cape and run, but your a nice guy, who wanted to give this fool another shot to fix his f**k-up.... contact MNRO and let them know your going ahead with legal action as you feel he sold your rack, or stole it. It's only 40.00 to file in small claims. Leave him one more message, or if you know a lawyer, have him send a letter on legal letterhead threatening a lawsuit if your property isn't returned in 7 days. Let me know if I can help any further.

Thank you for all your help already,it is very much appreiciated.Yes,I tried to do this in a civil manner for way to long.I have endured many a sleepless night trying to bring this to a close.....with a happy ending.
A price cannot be put on the accomplishments and memories of a successful hunt which in turn usually results as a mount to preserve them.
I am going to the lawyers tommorow (friday). If anyone has or knows anyone waiting for a mount from Jamie contact me.There is also a post on www.manitobahunters.com as well as on facebook under HUNTERS OF MANITOBA.
If this does go to court, which I am pretty sure it will it will be good to have strength in numbers.
Thanks again everyone.:)

Thanks to everyone for your help and messages of encouragement!
