Anyone know where buy decent bulk .22 rimfire ammo in Calgary

What's going on, hoarding or prepping in the US???

I miss CIL, nothing like being 100% dependant on the US.........

I just got my first firearm (10/22). reading threads like this make me worry. Crazy that in this day and age theres still shortages on anything that makes money when sold.

With all the regulations and such on ammunition they can't just open dozens of new factories overnight to pump out ammo. The equipment to make ammo is quite specialized and not easy to get. I believe Hornady and Barnes are using surplus military bullet swaging presses from World War 2 era because having new ones made is far too expensive, even for a large company.

With demand going up and down over the years it isn't financially viable to have huge production facilities that you only use when demand rises. 22lr has been harder to find for over a year now and most of the current manufacturers have doubled or tripled their production by running 2-3 shifts a day instead of 1-2. It still isn't enough with such a huge spike in demand. When the demand drops and stockpiles in warehouses are built up again they'll have to start laying people off as they no longer need to run as many shifts.

The same shortages are happening with powder for reloaders and people have only recently been able to get 9mm, 40 S&W, 45 ACP, and 223 reliably in bulk for the last couple months some places.

Don't bother trying Wholesale Sports. Totally out of .22, not to mention most reloading supplies.

Same old, same old, in other words, just more so.

Wholesale sports just received a bunch of federal .22 LR. They had seven cases on display today

I picked up a box of that federal yesterday. Never quite went through the whole box but in my 10/22 I ended up have 3 or 4 FTE and 1 FTF. So a pretty good day all in all.
