Anyone know where the 303 is coming from

While I agree, surplus 303 would be a good thing. But for 95% of people (myself included), we would just be pissing it away on 100yd ranges. If there was more 300+ yard ranges it would be excellent. Thus, I won't be holding my breath. I'll continue to reload.

But I may just be having a glass half empty kind of day.

If it came from Russia it would be WW1 vintage equipment. They supplied equipment to fight the Bolsheviks in 1917. That's getting to be pretty old ammo.

Nothing slipped through during WWII? They did receive a bunch of Shermans and aircraft among other things.

A ton of Thompson SMG's, too! I don't believe any of this stuff was used as the parts and ammunition would have been a big problem, lots of it still sits in warehouses to this day. I recall reading somewhere that many of the Deactivated Thompson SMG's you find on the European market (especially in the United Kingdom) come from both Russia and Yugoslavia.

They did make good use of the lend-lease Studebaker trucks they got, though!

And they "regulate" anything the slightest bit out of the ordinary right out of existence.

You ever wonder why you can get surplus 8x57 ammo for 9 cents a shot in the States and it's a buck here? THEY are the biggest reason.

Government CLOWNS!

Even if it was Indian or Pakistani ammo and there's as many duds and whatnot as you fine gentlemen are speculating: just put it off to the side, pull the bullet, dump the charge, swap the primer, reseat, crimp and you're good to go

The last batch of POF ammo I had was charged with cordite.

If anything the fact that there 10x more people and 10x more guns( including a few mg08/34/42 to blow through a few thousand rounds in a minute or two) has more to do with the price. We seem to be getting some much better prices on surplus lately 7.62x39 is down to around .16$ a shot from .18-.20$ and 7.62x54r is down to around .25$ from .32-.35$ a shot.

More sheer ignorance and plain stupidity from the usual suspects regarding ERD. You people don't even know the correct department name let alone what their policies are, but don't let that hold you back so you can piss and moan.

Do you know that ERD has relaxed surplus ammo import regulations from a few years back? No, you're too busy whining to check actual facts.

We have surplus 7.62x25, 39, 54R coming in from Bulgaria, China, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, and somehow ERD are "clowns" responsible for the lack of cheap surplus. Get your heads out of your butts. There's no cheap 8mm because it's ALL GONE. Smellie you show me 8mm for $0.09/rd in quantity anywhere in the world and I'll have it approved for import by ERD in three months.

Well, there WAS all that Turkish 8mm...... until the kibosh got put on it.

And the Romanian 8mm that never got here.

And we had a helluvva time getting 8x56R brought in (and several other calibres) because it "cost" 5 grand apiece to be "ìnspected" even though there were TONS and TONS of other ammo entering the country from the same factory........

Government is the fine art of Bureaucrats helping themselves to somebody else's money on the pretext of doing them a service.

Clowns.

Yup! Remember they got the cheap 7.62x39 tracer taken off the market as they never approved it. Tracer is illegal or something? Or not! Who the hell knows. Now I'm confused and pissed all over again damnit.

It's amazing how quickly the prices change. I bought Yugo 8mm in Buffalo about... 7 years ago or so? for 16 cents a round. As for the .303 I scored a large hoard of HXP and South African at about the same time. I would love to see some nice .303 come in :) As for the POF hang firing which it does and DID... I absolutely love the sound of cordite :)

So, back on topic for a second, is there actually some sort of 303 surplus coming in or is this thread in the same catagory as unicorns and druid farts? (Or Korean Garands for that matter. Fingers still crossed)
