Anyone knows Mossberg silver reserve?

Planing get new shotgun.

In Frontire have Mossberg Silver Reserve on sale.

anyone know about this shotgun? and how about the quality?

I will not use too much, only during the hunting season.
 
I have also been shopping for an O/U and if you do a few searches on here and Google the general consensus is they are OK for the money, but not without some minor problems. There have been thousands sold and relatively few serious complaints, so for an entry level gun, it is a calculated risk.

If you can scrape up a few bucks more to get into an entry level Ruger, or a Beretta/Browning, you would likely find it money well spent.
 
I was in a similar boat last summer. Looking for an over under for skeet and for hunting.

I found them very heavy and I didn't like the idea of carrying it around in the field all day. For skeet, it would have been fine. I know Marlin up there in Prince Albert so I tried some other over unders that he carries and settled on a Yildiz.

Some guys have trashed the Yildiz for quality control but mine has been great. Nice and VERY light, inexpensive and it shoots like no other shotgun I've owned. The wood is also very nice. I get a lot of interest from the other shooters at the range when I pull it out of the case. Many thinking that I spent well over a grand when I think it was closer to $700.

I've put over a thousand rounds through it so far and have not had a single problem. Just my two cents.
 
I have a SR in 20ga. Havent used it much, but the price was right. Seems like a decent shotgun, but dont expect a Beretta for Mossberg $$
 
I can relate to an incident where we were sitting around after a round of Trap and a fellow with one of those was putting it away, he dry fired it to release the hammers, and we heard the firing pin or part of it, hit the tin roof above us....I'm not sold on the Turkish guns, what famous guns of the past have they provided for us??
 
I looked at one and passed. Bought a Yildiz 12 guage O/U which I hunted pheasant every other day last season,had zero problems. Was really light and handled superbly in the field.

I'm not overly keen on Beretta. I have two Silver Snipe - 0/U s (one is a trap model). Beretta is not able to supply parts. My friend has a Beretta semi auto that has been non functional for over ten years because he can not find a gunsmith who can get parts either.
Mossberg has supplied parts for guns that have not been in production for thirty years or more - that is much better service.
 
I believe Mossbergs are made in N.A. and if so, parts should not be a problem for them to provide, these o/us are made by Turkeys so i don't know how avail. parts are.

The original post was Mossberg silver reserve, is that what the trap shooter had? Or was it a Perazzi, my MX3, and then later my MX2, broke a firing pin once a year.

Correct me if I am wrong Ben, this model of shotgun does not have a bushed firing pin?
Hence gunsmith repairs for a broken firing pin, can get "stupidly high" in fees.

I have one in 20 gauge and got a great deal on it. It swings nice and I haven't had a problem with it. Probably fired close to 500 rounds so it doesn't get much use. If you're looking for a trap gun get something else, but its a decent field gun for the price. Just make sure to assemble it properly and don't dry fire them. Also, they won't fully #### if held vertically and the action is closed.
