I was just building some ammo yesterday and decided to measure to load to the lands turns out to touch the lands is only .030" longer than the recommended max lenght in my manual I have been using. I only loaded 5 up from my best charge and extened the OAL .030".

Has anyone else been doing this for an old service rifle? How did it work for you? I know it's not a $2000 rifle, but I still think there is lots of room to improve accuracy.

I load my 174 Gr. Bullets to .020" before the lands on mine, to keep pressures down (I'm kind of paranoid about the "stiffer" loads). Those military throats are LOOONG!
