Just bought a Zavasta chambered in 7x64 Brenekke. Looking for any info on hunting rounds. H-4350 and H-4831 seem like ideal powders using 150- 160 gr. bullets. Thanks in advance for any info.
When I loaded it, I used the data for the .280 Remington. The Speer manual stated in bold lettering that the .280 Remington data can be used for the 7x64 Brenneke.
I have a stainless Zastava M70, 7x64 does have less case capacity then 280rem, I use 280 data less 2gr as my max.
I settled on IMR-4831 for my powder, with 160gr-175gr pills. These have quite a fast twist (1-8.33) so the longer bullets work well.
I have a stainless Zastava as well. IMR 4831 and 150 gr Sierra bullets group into 5/8 to 3/4 inch @ 100yds(3 shots). Never tried anything else in this rifle. As already mentioned case capacity of the 7x64 is slightly smaller that the 280, so max loads for the 7x64 will be 2 or 3 grains less than the 280 handle.
I use 58grs of imr 7828 ssc and cci mag primers with a 175gr interlock at 2720fps. Full 280 rem max load. Shoots 1inch groups. Rifle: blued zastava m70 bedded by gunsmith.
