Anyone make a new 7x57

Sorry, you have not convinced me and I wont be trading the 7mm-08 in for a 7x57.
If you want one fine, but I dont need one.

I wasn't trying to convince you to switch from 7mm08. that's a great round too - superior even, in factory loadings.

I have a 7mm Mauser and will build a 7x57 hunting rifle sometime in the future on either a M98 or MRC action.

I wish my Ruger No.1A had been a 7x57, but I couldn;t find one when I needed to buy the rifle for a hunt, so I got the same gun in .30-06 instead. Frankly, it's not worth switching sice the .30-06 to 7x57 switch would only be for style points. Neither round is sufficiently better to bother changing over ;)

I have an "Interarms Mark X" in 7X57. My wife hunts with it mostly now. I bought it a bunch of years ago and i cannot find Inerarms on the net now so they may be gonzo. I tryed doing some handloading for it and don't remember what kind of velocities I was getting for it but I could not get any better accuracy than I was getting with factory loads. My wife has shot a moose and a couple bighorns with it. I shot a couple of black bear.

I said "bighorns" not rams. She has shot a couple of ewes with the 7X57. She is however a keeper. She bought me a rifle for Christmas one year. ( a rem 7600 in .35 whelen) I liked it so much I bought her a 20 ga O/U for Christmas.

Hey Slicknick Are you a member of the Rocky Fish and Game Association? We meet at the Provincial building the second Wed. of each month at 7:00 pm. You should join up if you are not already.

Have a good one!

Hi Guys

I have had an itch for a 7X57 for a while now, and it looks like custom is the only way to go. I like the 700 action and I was looking through the 1992ish remington catalog. They have the overall length of the 7X57 and the .308 mountain rifles as being the same and the .30-06 being 1 inch longer. That would imply that the 7X57 is built on the short action. I always figures that the 7mm Mauser was built on the long action. Can those that own a 7mm Mauser 700 Rem please confirm.

Thank you:D

A real man only needs a 7x57......but hey, I'm a boy at heart.
I want TOYS!!! :D
As far as the 7x57 action length goes, it was originally designed for an intermediate length action so it is too long for a short action.
You could chamber it to a short action but would have to seat the bullets right in and that defeats the purpose of having a 7mm.
Afterall, the beauty of the 7x57 is that it shoots 160gn & 175gn bullets so effectively and seating them in would encroach on the powder space.
Go the long action instead and be able to seat you bullets out further.
The extra inch of action length is a little academic anyhow and if you must keep your rifle to a particular length then take an inch off the barrel.
The 7x57 isn't a magnum and it will fire as effectively from a 20" or 22" bbl as a 26".
