After going ghetto on my duck blind for my jon boat, I want to make a layout blind. Just looking for some ideas if anyone else has made one. Looking to spend minimal $$$. Thinking a cam screen and crud on top, but I'd love to see ideas!

I had an 1/2 inch electrical conduit bender and a mig welder. The flaps were made out of 1/4 inch rod in a small pipe hinge. The 10 foot pieces of electrical conduit in a 10 pack was 25 bucks. I made 4 blinds out of the 10 pack. I bought cheap fabric and spray bombed it the colour of the wheat field I was hunting in. I bought camo mesh screen from WSS for the flaps. Sewing it all on was the time consumer. Next time its glue gun.

Are you military? Get some cam net from stores man. I'm not a duck hunter but I've used it for deer blinds. Works great.

I've used a ghillie suit for geese. Worked well on the 2 geese that came in. Circled and came in at about 25 yards right over me. I've never used a layout blind but I've seen burlap used very effectively

Out in the Fundy mud I used to tow a line of 6 dekes from the foot of a toboggan with a piece of burlap tied to one side of it. The other wise (lengthwise along the toboggan), was tied to a piece of dowel, so that when I'd pop up I could fling the whole thing over in one go. Worked OK, until the day I was do focussed on some mallards that were reluctant to commit that I did not notice the tide coming up around me, into my toboggan, and right down the back of my waders! Made for a long, cold and sloshy march back to shore! lol!
