Anyone makes a mag fed. semi auto?

Besides ghost rings instead of rifle sights, this one needs to loose the ghey heat shield, cheesy stock, but add a tacticool flashlight in the now empty mag tube.

Agreed--that would be a great improvement. I kicked around a couple of different looks:

It looks like it's got the same folding buttstock as the 870 version. Presumably, that means that aftermarket 870 stocks like Mesa, Knoxx, etc should all fit. I find that exciting. Can't say I like the forend much, but I've never seen a forend for an 1100 that's got black-rifle appeal.

I'm very curious to see what the Benelli version looks like.

Interesting... If that's supposedly based on a Remington 1100, how did they get an 870 folding stock on it? Where did they put the spring tube?

Perhaps the Hawk semi is built more like a Remington 878, but with the addition of a box mag. For those not familiar with the 878 it's an old Remington semi that uses: a gas system with the piston located in the front portion of the mag tube; a barrel that is pretty much an 870 barrel with gas ports drilled in; an operating return spring that is located under the fore end instead of being in the buttstock. Seems like the perfect solution to a detachable box mag fed shotgun.

I'd wondered the same thing too. The 878 design would work and because it's so similar to the 870 design that the machining changes wouldn't be as dramatic.

However the 878 wasn't in production for very long for a variety of reasons and wasn't one of the stellar shotgun designs. The self-regulating gas piston made it not as good as the model 58 which the 878 replaced. Maybe they used the 58 design which has an adjustable gas regulator.

Outdated design, Chinese manufacturing, limited to 5 rounds and restricted if it's under 18.5 inches doesn't sound like that appealing a combination. YMMV.

The manufacturer makes at least 2 models, one based on the 1100, one on the Benelli. I will have NO details until later.

I guess nobody read this post. the importer says it'll likely be based on an 1100 or benelli....the pic above was just someone's guess at what it could be.

If it's got a folding stock it's gotta be different than an 1100, at least as far as the action return spring is concerned. As far as being based on a Benelli - they make both gas and inertia lock designs.

The pic is of a Norinco/Hawk shotgun. It is not however based on an 1100 design despite what the write up says. It can't be with a folding stock.

Here's the full link:

A design based on a Benelli can't have a folding stock either as their guns also have a recoil spring that extends into the buttstock.

So whatever gun CanAm is hinting at can't have a folding stock if it's based on a Benelli or Remington 1100.

I know this thread is old. I guess no one wanted a semi automatic 1100. I was looking at the Dominion Arms Cougar Se-Au Shotgun and think how nice that would be with a box magazine like the Grizzly.:D
