Christy called me at work this morning, saying she wants to go for her Antlerless moose this fall. Can there be a better phone call at work than that!:) Her draw priority is more than high enough, having 9-9'd it for the last four years until the kiddies were big enough to leave with a sitter.

That made my day! I have just the spot picked out where I got my very first cow, 16 years ago. Easy going as far as moose go.

Now to see which rifle she shoots best and we'll be away!

Anyone else looking at their gear to get ready like we are? :D

Around here it seems hunting season never ends, your either in it or getting ready for the next one.

I have also been very lucky to find a new friend who kindly offered to take me looking for a Bighorn. What can I say, I am stoked!:dancingbanana:

Hmmm I am working on trading a deer hunt for a moose hunt. Hopefully everything works out and I end up with a good hunting partner

The Mighty Carrot Creek :D

I am not familiar with that area but if it's anything like around home the Whitetails seem to be really booming. We have had a mild winter so far so I see no reason why it wouldn't continue.

At least the Apple Dumpling gang won't be out here.:p

Best of luck Frank!

cdngunner, sounds like a fun trade. It brings the excitement back to hunt the same animal but in a totally different area. :)

Oh yeah, planning ahead for my fall bear hunt on Kodiak Island...getting the 338 up to snuff, loading up the backpack already and making sure every piece is just right for the job, walking around in hip waders, checking out maps, and so on and so on....... it's all part of the chase. :D Wouldn't have it any other way!

Noel, I guess you must like eating swamp donkey...........everyday!;)

LOL Too funny Gregg!:D
I actually gave a whole bunch of it to the folks who got me started. As a yearly thank you I guess. They really appreciate it. Raving reviews have come back regarding the meat they got from the Bull, which makes me feel very happy.

It is also the same place where I will pack Christy to go for her Cow moose hunt. Every year I try to get back, especially since Mervin had his stroke. He can't motor through the bush like he used to but I don't care if I have to walk back and unload my quad to go haul him back to the house or not (which I've done). I cherish every moment with them.

That will be some hunt, going for the big bear. Sure you don't need to take your 375 though?;)

FALL??? Spring bear and TURKEY!! Fall is very far away, although with IKE jr. turning the big 14 it's coming fast and I still haven't bought him his first official hunting centerfire yet.

I hear ya Ike!

I already turned Nugget down for going 6 hours north for the Black Bruins.:(
I am holding off a couple years so I can save for the rug.....er....full body mount!:p

Did you get drawn for the turkey then?
The Outlaws went down to the Cypress hills last summer, said they were just sitting in the trees along the road!

thoughts of spring turkey . ..if I can find some unposted land:( most of it around here is owned by hippie granolas who haven't hit a turkey with their Volvos yet)

Grouse in the Larose and Marlborough forests in September.:)

Moose and Muzzleloader deer in NW Ontario in October.:D

Caribou in November/December in la Belle Province :D

The odd trip for bunnies or bush pigs the rest of the year:)

sheep and moose early. Deer, ducks and moose late if I don't get one early. Same as last year and will be the same the year after.

Well, I'm selling off a few of my rifles so James and I can go on a caribou hunt.......just trying to find an outfitter that will let him come. They think all 8 yr olds are crybabies I guess......I think Jim Shockey might be able to help.

Randy, Nugget is from Yellowknife, if you want I know he has friends that guide up there. Only challenge is during the non-res. hunt, the herds are a long ways north yet and you still have to fly from there.

I am envious! One day I need to make that trip as well.

Jim would be fun to hunt with, I wonder what the damages would be to go with his outfit!

Lots of different game being chased, we should get some good pics next fall.

- Believe I'm up for a Mule Deer draw in Alberta this year so that will be a hunt with my Daughter & Son In Law.
- I'll be putting in for a draw for Moose in the B.C. interior where we have a cabin, 5-15. No luck with a draw, I plan to look for an immature 'deep freeze' Moose in 7-06.
- Bow hunt on V'Island for Deer.
