Looking for a replacement stock for my
Sako 85 Finnlight 308.
Wondering if Boyds rifles stocks are a good fit .

Any info would be appreciated.
Bob

I ordered a pro Varmint with cheek riser for a Weatherby vanguard build earlier this year. It took 8 weeks to get. The inlet took a lot more tweaking with a dremel than I think it was worth. Yes, I bedded it anyways, but my rifle would not even fit the stock as purchased. Their excuse for this is that every action of the same model has a tolerance, but there’s absolutely no reason they shouldn’t be able to produce a stock that fits out of the box. I’m a machinist, I know how OEM fits and clearances work.. There was also runs in the clear finish, not cool.

It ended up costing me ~$500 landed, I’ll look for a quality composite stock or chassis next time.

I ordered the A1 stock for a Tikka T3 from Boyd's. It was an absolute embarrassment.
The stock had been sold and shipped back to them 2 times prior. The shipping stamps were on the box and the stock.
There was absolutely no way the stock they sent me, was going to fit a rifle. Boyd's does not do returns from Canada, therefor no refunds.
I had to get a written letter from a gun smith, confirming the stock was NFG and submit it to my bank, before they would cancel payment to Boyd's. I don't write bad reviews unless I get service is this bad. In this case I will share my experience from Boyd's.

I wonder if a person paid with credit card, if doing a dispute through them would be the best course of action.

Bob-don't tell me you wore out that stock already!??

I put an AT One on a Ruger. No issues, drop in fitment, adjustable. You could get one for that short action Finny but they are heavy.

I haven't ordered recently but had a 10/22, Rem 722, Stevens 200, Rem 700 SA and LA stock arrive and have no issues with drop in fit.

I purchased a 10/22 Varmint Tactical and a Walnut M1A stock and handgaurd and both were great looking and fir perfect. My experience so far has been good. I’m thinking of getting a green pepper laminate stock for my Ruger American Ranch AR mag.

I am guessing that I have bought about fifteen or twenty stocks from Boyds in the last 12 years, never had a poor fit, at worst a little hand sanding on the barrel channel. I have not bought any in about two years I hope they have not gone down hill.

Ordered a stock from Boyd’s over the phone last week and upon reading the confirmation email, I tried to correct a couple of issues, well after 1/2 a dozen emails, I cancelled the order and just reordered on the website. Be warned the only shipping method is USPS it is expensive and far from quick.

Stockey’s is long on delivery if it is not in stock. I was quoted 3 months last week.

Boyds figure about twice the US price landed. I haven't got a bad one yet, but I will always look elsewhere, they are kind of my last resort for stocks.
I never order them finished FWIW, because 1, there finish isn't that great, and 2, if you had to work on it you have to refinish it anyway.
I've always had to bed them for a solid fit as well, but once bedded they are decent.
These are the last 2 I got, barrel channel needed to be opened, bedded, but the end result was pretty good.

I tried to do a dispute with Boyd's first. The answer was," you are Canadian. We do not do returns from Canada, and therefore,
no credit." I had to get the refund from my credit card company.
I really wish My personal experience was different, and they do build really nice stocks, but what if?
