I am no photgrapher but will try to post pics in the next few days.
By the way, there were more than 2 models of the Bren Ten. I have the Standard Model.
There is another member here (that I know of) who has a Bren Ten. Let's see some pics of yours again koldt!
Here ya go. Sorry for the pics being rather big.
First has the shot of the Bren Ten along with some extra mags, and a Milt Sparks holster marked B10.
Second are the dies. I got these in Cranbrook when I bought the pistol. They are not carbide dies, and were pretty expensive for the time, I think they were $85 in 1985. This Bren Ten was one of 5 that Mountain Man Sports in Cranbrook got in. Each gun had 2 mags, which was unheard of then when most were shipped without even one mag. I don't know how they did it..
Third shot is of the infamous 170gr HP, rocket ammo. I've never actually shot any of this stuff, as when these pistols were brough in, it was prohibited to bring in HP pistol ammo into Canada. I shot some of the factory 200gr stuff. It was hot, but was the only stuff around.
I was living in the Kootenays at the time, and remember travelling to Calgary and going in to Pro Line gun shop when it was on Macleod Tr. I asked if they had any 10mm bullets for sale, and the guy in there looked at me like I had a third eye and just travelled in on the "short bus". Took me awhile before components were available.
When I finally did find some bullets and started loading, there was no loading data available. This was all still 1985-1986. So some of my first loads were by guess and by golly. I chronographed the first loads, with the first round reading 1660fps. I thought maybe the chrono wasn't working properly as it didn't feel that bad. I continued on and finished 6 rounds that averaged 1655fps with a 175gr lead bullet.
I've now owned 4 Bren Ten Standard Models. Two of which were unfired, and re-sold. This one is a keeper.
I was also lucky to pick up some spare parts, from the guy that bought D&D's inventory. So now I've got an extra firing pin, extractor, etc.
I should have had it when I shot the Soldier of Fortune 3 gun match in Vegas '91. I brought the Bren Ten and used it, however before going down to the match, I pooched the extractor claw, and re-built it up. I function tested with old flat based brass, and everything was OK. I went to shoot the match with new brass and it was too thick to get behind the extractor. Taught me a lesson, function test with the ammo you will use. "Probably" won't do that again. Nothing is for sure, it takes me a long time to learn.
