I have been loading nothing but 230gr FMJ for the past couple years and have been loving them. The G/F has just got into handguns and loves shooting .45ACP but wished it would kick a tiny bit less. I am trying out some 200gr copper plated Truncated Cone bullets and cant find load data anywhere.

I was told to just follow the data from 200gr JHP bullets but just finished my second trip to the range and am still not getting a reliable load and the rounds are just making big tear marks in the paper (it looks like a cat attacked my target).

My last batch was loaded at 5gr Unique with an OAL of 1.175. I have been getting ejection problems on every round. When I was loading my 230gr FMJ I was loading at 6.0gr Unique with an OAL of 1.230. I am trying to keep it lighter for the sake of the G/F.

The load data I have been going on is from the Lyman manual and they claim 4gr-6.5gr at 1.175 got 200gr JHP.

Anyone been loading 200gr TC bullets than can give me some input? Should I just take them up closer to 6gr? Will 6gr with the 200gr bullets kick noticeably less than the 6gr in the 230gr bullets?

I have found that the lightest load for the Cam-Pro 200gr plated, truncated bullets,
that will reliably cycle through most 1911 .45's, is 5.2 grs. Unique .

Don't mean to jack the thread but where are you fellows getting the 200gr tc bullets? My 2 go to guys budgetshooter and customammo don't list them. I would be interested in trying them out. Thanks.

45 x 200 tc bullets-- bullets

The Berry's 45 cal x 200 rs bullet is basicaly a truncated cone bullet.
It is a round shoulder with a flat point.
We have a shipment coming in tomorrow Tues July 31
We normally have a large stock of them but they have become very popular and hard to keep in stock.
Take care.
