Anyone out there using Hodgdon Longshot for 9mm Major loads

I have been using longshot for 9mm Major.

It is an excellent powder. Clean burning and effective.

I can make major with 6.8, but I run 7.2 grains for my setup. Overall length is 1.150, this depends on the bullet profile. Speed is 1388 fps. Power factor is 172.

Note: I am using small pistol primers, they show a little bit of pressure, but nothing to be concerned about.

I have been impressed with it so far.

What is 9mm Major? It seems like a hot load...is that right? Just curious why you would load like this as well?

Please don't hang me for this!! :D

The reason for these loads is to make major power factor for IPSC. Less deductions point wise for shots outside of the A zone.

ffgats. You gotta love the loud!!:D

AUTOCOMP CHRONO result:
Powder charge -- 7.0gr
projectile --- zero 125jhp
oal --- 1.170
ave.vel (5 shot ) 1385

powder charge 7.2gr
same speds as above
ave vel. 1420, high 1428,low 1413

comments: with 7.2 gr. you still have 20% room for your projectile, doesnt fill up the brass. clean, very promising powder, winchester got it this time
