Anyone own a Heckler & Koch USP?

I own a USPf .45.

Best gun i have ever owned. I have never shot the .40 cal version, but i have talked to people who have fired the .40 cal version. They said that while they hate the .40cal in general, they wouldn't be opposed to owning a .40cal USP.

the USP .45 has fantastic recoil.

Double action is at 10lbs. So take that for what you will. Single action is fantastic. No issues.

I read about a guy who put 2000 rounds through his USP .45 (documented) without cleaning or lubing. Ran flawlessly.

Buy the USP. You won't regret it. Just don't buy a 9mm version in full-size. That's a waste of the recoil reduction system.
 
I second the reply of Donster_125. I als own a USP full size .45. It is a tremendous sidearm. Reliable, accurate and soft shooting. I also have the HK45, which is more ergonomic and comfortable in the hand. But for accuracy and control the USP is better.

Why hold back? Last I looked Wolverine still had a MK23 for sale. If HK discontinues that model, and they might, you will always get your money back if not more. I suggest you bear in mind that fixed sight HKs are sighted in for the "cover up" hold, as described here

so unless you are comfortable with that, get a model that has adjustable sights, such as a USP Tactical .45, which Wolverine had about 10 days ago, but which is now enroute to a lucky guy:D.
 
That Mark 23 is expensive, can get a Desert Eagle for that price...

The CDN price is $1095 for the USP, in the States it's going for $800? Why is there such a difference, the $ is at par? Could I possibly order this USP in 40 for cheaper than $1095 in Canada, if I'm willing to wait?

I wonder the same thing about the price. Since ours are comming from germany and the US can make their own USPs maybe? It seems like a money grab to me. Its been my dream pistol to own a USP 45 or HK45. I saw a USP down in the states a few months ago and after handling it I really liked it. I would really like to own it, and Im sure I will get one eventually. Just hope H&K will decide to sell more HK45s up here one day.
 
I was under the impression that you could still get HK45 here, but there won't be any antler proof mark on it... if that matters to you. HK45 are now made in the USA.
 
I believe the USP is made in the USA. If any current owners can confirm this... $300 difference is a little much, I can see some added cost for import, but not that much. Maybe it's a German made model, that's why it is so much more? Anyone know?

both my USP 9 and USP 45 Tactical are made in Germany.
 
I am of the opinion that the Sig P220 will be supplanted by either the HK USP or HK45 as the best duty 45 ever made (arguable of course....). they are great pistols in every way. Sure they might not fit some hands as well as others, not the pistols fault.
 
So it's similar to the debate "Sig made in USA vs Germany" with these hk's then... So it's safe to assume that the canadian USP is made in Germany? That's why there is such a price discrepancy?
 
My USP says "made in Germany" on the frame, and has an antler proof mark on the slide. I don't think I've ever seen a USP without one.
Unless I'm mistaking that implies this particular gun passed an inspection somewhere in Germany outside of the HK plant (forgot the name of the house). I doubt HK USA ships their stuff to Germany to be inspected. Does that mean a German made HK is better than a US made? Not necessarily, but given the choice...
 
The USP is a great gun. It is a little lacking in the ergonomics dept. I have the USP .40 and sold the P30 so that shows how much I liked the USP. The USP was designed from the ground up for the .40 round and the dual recoil spring reduces the forces placed upon the frame. The only side effect is a slightly slower cycling speed.

The eagle stamp on the slide denotes the fact the firearm was put through the "over pressure" test. firing an over pressure round.
The AK is the manufacture date. A = 0, K = 10.
The antler stamp denotes the district in Germany that the firearm was proof tested in.
DE means Deutchland.

Actually, its 09. They don't use the J in their date codes.

If it was 10, it would be BA.

Thanks for the info on the proper German markings and identifiers. This will come in handy. Anyone have the US model markings?

Where is the DE for Germany printed?
