Are they legal in Canada?

i belive a sponsor has imported some of the .22lr version of this. dont think the states would issue an export permit for this one. i cannot remember who the canadian dealer was

Yeah, this one's a 5.56/.223

Actually, that's the reason we don't have any models of the SU-16 up here. They would be legal according to our laws, but because they are marked 5.56mm, the US DOS won't allow export of them. Apparently, since it's in a military caliber, the gun is considered a non sporting firearm, and a no go for export from the US.

I see. Yeah, I was under the impression they were a go up there. Too bad such a little technicality can ruin everything.
What about your AR clones, aren't they marked 5.56?

There's really no problem up here regarding military calibers. In fact, the Norinco M4 clones that Marstar is bringing in from China are marked 5.56mm. It just seems to be the US government's policy that has made this an issue. And I do believe it is a rather recent change, because I own an Armalite AR180B that is labelled 5.56mm/.223.
