Anyone own a Mossberg 30-30 SPX 464?

Just curious why you don't think the new 94 is worth the money?
Is it because there are so many comparatively inexpensive pre-64s around in good shape, or do you think the gun is a ripoff regardless?
The fit and finish on the new ones is incredible. Sure, people aren't going to be lugging a 1,200$ lever gun into the woods so willingly (though I routinely shoot with my two new production 1892 Winchesters which both retailed for a hair under a thousand bucks when I got 'em).

When the 94 went out of production, it was a pretty inexpensive rifle to purchase. I'd imagine if they went back to the pre-64 way of making parts, it would cost around where the new 94 is.
 
I have had my Mossberg 464 (regular wood stock version) for about a year. It is my regular range gun and I have never had a single issue with it. Cycles, loads, and goes bang every time. Great gun for the money.
 
There great rifles at a fair price. If you do pick one up I would tighten the rear sight screw down. Many of them seem to be loose from factory and fall off from recoil. Other then that and the action being a bit stiff, there a great buy.
 
This is true, loose and fragile. I knocked out my rear sight to scope it with a Nikon 3-9x40 buckmaster 2 (great scope for the money btw).

Years ago I had a Mossberg lever 3030. Really liked it until I discovered it wouldn't shoot if it was cold, near zero F. Very complicated to take the action apart. It was as clean and grease free as I could get it but wouldn't strike the primer hard enough to shoot. I sold it to some other sucker.

My 2 bits worth.
