Anyone own a Remington 887 nitro mag? how is it?

Theres lots of threads on em
Opinions are split the 870/wingmaster purists hate them but unbiased people like em.
I have the tactical version it has around 12k rounds through and it only have had maybe 5 malfunctions all using ####ty target loads. I like it I also have a 870 and a wingmaster the 887 still has its place.

Agree they have their place. With me it is not in my collection. Had one to try also . Much better pumps out there now for the price than a 887 Enough said

Extremely light gun and obviously a plastic fantastic. Almost too light in my opinion but i could see it being a bush gun you don't care that you fell into mud with.

I've had mine for almost 2 years, about 3k rounds, abit stiff for the first 200 or so, but now it cycles so smooth, the only issue I've had is when someone else uses it and they don't cycle it hard enough or far enough and jam it for a second, easy to clear the few times it has happend, easy to clean and handles all sizes of shells, the pad is really nice, definatly not an 870" t

I had a 887 ---26 inch barrel ( great for hunting eider ducks in SALT water ,etc). I traded it for a nice Browning BL22 but now regret parting with it due to its great weather protection ---- Armorlokt and smooth action.

I also own a Remington 870-- (28 in. vent rib,21 in. turkey and 23 in. cantilever barrels) and Mossberg 930--(field/security combo- 18/28.barrels.) Neither is close to as weatherproof as the 887.

I like the shorter barrels because they are so nice to carry. A friend told me that a local dealer just got a 887 tactical in stock(that I have been interested in looking at for a while).

Guess what....It's now in my gun locker and I absolutely love it.--- 3.5 inch chamber, interchangable chokes, weatherproof, light, picatinny rails, etc.

I plan to buy a magazine cap like on the hunting version so I can remove the mag. extension and tactical choke tube on occasion(for grouse and ptarmigan hunting). I have only shot about 20 rounds through it so far ---works great just like the previous one.
