Anyone own/know the value of a CZ 52/57 ???

They are in existence. I have one. I've seen them on the EE in non bubbad form ranging from $400 to $600 depending on the condition.

Oh cool, alright. I have seen one for sale locally for $575, and I was curious, since I have never seen them before.

The reason I ask is if it would be worth swapping the cz858 for one...but I like my CZ, due to aftermarket support and availability of parts...

Well it depends on what you're looking for. I would not trade my VZ52/57 for an cz858 since they don't make now ones any more and its more of a historical rifle. The CZ858 is more commercial rifle, not to be confused with the VZ-58, which is available any time and has tons of mods made by great Canadian manufacturers. It's a question of what do you want in a rifle.

Yea that is what I was thinking about; it's rarity.

Also, that has always confused me. What is the difference between the CZ-858 and the VZ-58?

$575 is at the higher end of pricing right now, but non-bubba'd 52/57's are getting few and far between so if you really wanted one...

I think it's worth having both the cz858 and the vz52/57. Although I don't own a cz858, I imagine it's quite a bit lighter and handier than the vz52/57. However, the vz52/57 has the advantage of being more rare/collectable and a chrome-lined bore (at least in comparison to the non-restricted cz858).

I have a Vz52/57 in the mail as we speak!

Chrome lined barrel...there's a plus!

I have a VZ 52/57 and in my humble opinion it is the best 7.62x39 millsurp out there. They are rare and are hard to get parts for in Canada but its cool to have the only one at the range.

I have a vz52/57 and a cz858. Totally different critters. The feel of the recoil is cool on the vz52/57. Very little pop up, the recoil feels straight back. Probably has to do with the gas piston design, being around the barrel instead of above it like on a sks. Heavy, but well balanced.

500.00 plus? Wow. I paid 189.00 at Lever Arms about 25 years ago. Like new with a few storage marks on the wood. Spare mag for 10 bucks. Put two boxes of factory Winchester through it. Re greased it and back in storage.

The mags are the ones that have appreciated the most... if you can find the 7.62x39 ones, I think many people would pay $75+ a piece.
