Kidd barrel is on the way and was going to just use my ruger receiver but am now thinking on getting a new receiver so then I can leave my current grouse gun alone. Anyways how was the fit of the dar 22 receiver and the kidd barrel? Was it loose fit any barrel droop?

My DAR receiver was VERY tight and my KIDD barrel was VERY tight. I followed KIDDs instructions and got the barrel on about a half inch before it got stuck.
I then took the barrel-receiver to a gun smith that got it apart with 2 barrel wrenches, then turned the barrel shank down about .002 inch. Also the outside of the barrel had to be turned at the receiver to fit under the sight rail on the DAR receiver.
When done I have no barrel droop that I can detect and the finished rifle shoots great. Depending on the ammo I get .2 - .75 inch groups at 50 yd.
Also not a single failure to feed or eject so far. ( about 300 rounds )

The freezing the barrel and heating the receiver +anti-seize others talk about might have worked, but this way I can get the barrel off with out too much trouble if I decide I want a different barrel in the future.

I had a fluted 18" Kidd barrel on a reg Dar22 that was crazy tight, second 16" bull Kidd barrel was not so tight. On the new 30moa reciever the same loose barrel was crazy tight. Needed to be opened up aprox .004 to fit. Expect a solid fit with a bit of work. Will make for an excellent package deal. 16" KIDD bull barrel soon to be sold for the new 20" bull barrel that will be here tomorrow :D They all shoot like lasers, you will be very happy!

I have done two Kidd barrel's on DAR22 receivers with no unusual problems... Just the usual Emery paper on the tenon and Break-Free installation... Exactly the same as I did for Kidd barrels in Kidd or VQ receivers... What you could run into a problem with is the Kidd bolt in the Dlask receiver... That took a lot more fitting than normal.

Ive never owned or built a 10/22 but I do have plans for one and intend to start collecting the parts so this is a timely thread. I am assuming you want to work the tenon down to very close tolerances so that its tight but can be removed at a later date..... So freezing the barrel (to shrink it a couple thou) wouldn't be smart?
Also. What is the issue with using a kidd bolt in dlask reciever?? Thanks
