My tax refund has come around and daddy needs some new glass for a precision rig (farthest I'm planning to shoot it it is 600 Meters for now). I want the first focal plane, and this is a chance to get in with (what I hope is a quality) Nightforce Scope. It seems to be pretty new model so there aren't many reviews. Nightforce seems to be a very reputable company with a great reputation. Does anyone have any personal experience they'd care to contribute?

good scope? bad scope? Maybe there is something FFP in this price range that is better? I debated on the possibility of the 6-24 Vortex PST which is a little less, but I'm hoping the glass will be a better quality on the Nightforce.

I'm getting one with the Mil-R reticle for my FNAR (it's not paid for yet, but I've decided on it). Like you said, there are only a few reviews so far and it is pretty new. I like the feature set, especially with the illumination just at the centre, zero stop, side focus and parallax adjustment. From what I've read (no hands on experience), the glass of the Vortex really cannot do 24X, and if you need to keep at a middle magnification for clarity on a FFP scope then your reticle will likewise not be fully expanded.

My friend has a couple vortex 6-24 FFP's which I have tried, I can't say I noticed any terrible degradation of image quality at full power, but I didn't have a better optic to compare it to.

Where are you looking to source your scope from Exlibris? So far, the best price I have found seems to be Hirsch precision. Have you found anyone better?

sometimes you have to be fast ....

Well, I'm actually gonna call this one a draw... She beat me to the tax refund... Only got it done yesterday lol, so she was on the ball there.... But I got one step ahead of her last week, when I ordered a new leupold vx-3 lol. Should be at the post office tomorrow.

I use the bushnell LRHS 3-12 which is ffp and I'm very happy with it.
It's a little more geared towards hunting with a capped windage knob so if your more into the nightforce style knobs for windage then it may not appeal to you. Otherwise it tracks true and I don't notice any optical difference compared side by side to nightforce nxs models.
Great value in my opinion.

Pretty sure the windage and elevation knobs are capped on the shv models

The new F1 model has an exposed elevation turret.

I'm building a precision AR to put it on (and it is 99% done). For rings, I have an ADM scout mount, but I want to get an 20 MOA ADM mount for AR's.

I just noticed you are in Ottawa, I'm hoping to have my scope by next weekend (the 12th), If I do, I'll be out at EOSC giving her a rip if you want to check out the scope.

Pretty neat -- if you'd sign me in as a guest I'd be up for it. (I moved to Ottawa not too long ago and haven't gotten out to EOSC yet, but I am intending to join at some point). PM me if you can/will.
