Anyone playing with a 6x45mm or 6mm TCU?

I'm looking into rebarreling one of my surplus Savage actions to 6x45mm, now its not going to be a dedicated range gun. I'm probably going to choose either a light weight varmint or magnum sporter profile.
I'm hoping to drive 80-90 grain bullets at around 2700 fps, something with mild muzzle blast and recoil but capable of delivering out to say 600 yards on targets.
I'm envisioning a varmint and practical precision rifle something that can be carried in the field and the informally at the range.
I figured this was more of a target round, so I thought I would ask here rather then the hunting arms section. If anyone here has used on game I'd be interested to hear your results as well.

I'd never really heard of it.. I am of no help... :p. Ballistics seem much better with .243, 6x47, 6 creedmore. Then there is the 6mmBR and variants which is known to be exceptionally accurate.
 
i have a 6-222, a little smaller than the 6 tcu. shot lots of coyotes and and gophers with it, very accurate.
i loaded up some 80 gr ttsx for it this fall for a youngster to take his first deer, but he ended up using my lightweight 6br with 85 tsx's; 244yds, 1 shot kill off the bipod.
i just aquired a 6x47 barrel (222 mag necked up) for the same l461 the 6-222 barrel is on; haven't had a chance to screw it on yet.
my buddy just got his model 14 savage back chambered 6 tcu, but hasn't had a chance to shoot it yet, lee
 
I got intrigued by it when talking to a friend from the US who hunts game up to deer size with one in a M4 style AR15. Naturally I started wondering how it would benefit from a bolt action and a 20-24" barrel and since I have a couple underused savage actions one .223 and one .22-250 I considered using the .223 as a switch barrel barrel rig with a 6x45.
This .223 is just too predictably accurate and not even remotely picky about load for me to mess with so I may change the .22-250 to a .250 savage (possibly AI), that should give me all the performance I desire with little to no fuss.
 
I have used the 6tCU for a few deer,coyotes, and hundreds of gophers.
Great little round!

My TCU is in a TC contender Carbine. I have shot it out to 600 no problem. 87 grain hornady hpbt bullets are it favorite.
2700fps is very doable with this bullet weight range.
 
Seeing you are from N-B and would like something to also varmint hunt with the 6mm could only be used during big game season cause it is larger than 22 cal.

If you want to build a 6mm for range use and varmint when you can bring it out how about a 6mm br ,they are hard to beat accuracy wise and with a 1-8 twist barrel you could shoot a 105 grain bullet over 2800 fps.
6 br's are cheap to load for very accurate and great barrel life , also readily available loading components like dies and brass etc
 
the 6x45 is a great varmint round ,vary mild recoil and accurate, usually a slower twist 13 -14 and 65-70gr bullets for use out to 300+ for coyotes and such. will shoot out to 600 but not much energy with those bullets at that range. Great round if your action is limited to a .223 bolt face , a fast twist 6br will do more for you and the recoil in about the same though .
