Anyone re-bore barrels in Canada?

Wondering if anyone re bores barrels in Canada? I have a possible sewer pipe 303 Brit I would like re done in 35 Win if it is doable. Any idea on the cost?

I've turned this question over and over (for years!) re getting my .310 Cadet rebored to .357.

I have notes on two folks:

Ron Smith
RKS Enterprises LTD.
Box 635 Wimborne, Alberta.
T0M 2G0
Ph 403 631 2405
(I read somewhere that he may have moved this year, so this may not be current.)
From all I've heard, Ron is very good, but getting on in years and may not be taking a lot on these days.

Steve Holborn
Holborn Gunsmithing
8960 Hwy 17 E
Warren, Ontario , P0H 2N0
Canada

Hopefully others with direct experience will chime in.

If Ron does good work a year and a half would not be a problem. These rifles will not be used in their current condition, other than as test actions for fitting stocks.

Problem there is the thread. It's a 3TPI left hand buttress thread that supposedly is pretty tough to replicate. The later Ross actions aren't such a big deal. Besides, I would rather have it re bored with the original barrel. I'm going to do some looking around, these guys do exist. I have a 1894 30/30 that was opened up to a 38-55 so these guys are out there.

It will be tough finding a licensed gunsmith with a lathe capable of 3 tpi.

Ron Smith in Alberta has been reboring and making barrels for at least 40 years...

Phone Ron, an ask him specifically what you want. He is hard of hearing so be loud an clear when you speak!
He has re-bored, reamed, rifled, re-chamber, an fitted back on the action more barrels then any other smith in Canada.
If he cant do it no one can do it.
If it takes a year so be it.
You'll get what you want.

Thanks SST and Guntech. I've done the electrolysis on this barrel now and while it did clean a ton of carbon and copper out it still looks like the rifling is basically done. This one has seen a lot of hard use. I will do the same for the other rifle when it gets here but I'm thinking it will be the same program, so I had better get ahold of him!

Ask Bob Jury out of Red Deer. You can find him on Facebook at Jury Custom Barrels.

He just made me a blank and profiled it to the 1905 factory sporter contour. Haven't gotten it yet, but it should be in the mail when I get home tomorrow. With any luck, I'll have time to thread it this weekend.
