Anyone received the Walther PDP yet? Thoughts?

Got in an argument with the email lady too before shipping because i told her it was a PPQ plate on the invoice. Told me it was the same plate and it would work on my pistol. Gonna send the whole email link to walther as soon as my plate shows up. What a bunch of incompetent people. I really hope walther make them ship back our plate on them and exchange them, money is the only language they speak so that way they will listen alright

This is the reply I got from June of Gravel after I emailed her advising that the PPQ plate I received doesn't work on my PDP.

"Please do not attempt to install we will be making arrangement for the return of the plate.

Walther has added to the program and did not notify us, we will be making a correction. We are waiting for the correct info and be sending the correct ones. I will be in touch with you over the next couple of days letting you know how we will proceed.

Sorry for the inconvenience."

I had high hopes when Gravel took over the Canadian distribution. If this is how they are with suppling a simple plate, god forbid there is an actual warranty issue. I love my Walters but their customer service defiantly seems to be lacking. Thanks for keeping your fellow Walther owners apprised.

Me too, my PPQ plate is on it's way back to Gravel, they sent a pre-paid Fed-Ex label. Frustrating part is I don't think they will send the correct PDP one until they receive the PPQ one back.

This screw-up is precisely why Walther should not have cheaped out with their silly "1 Plate per customer" program, shipped after the purchase. The PDP should have shipped with a full set of adapter plates to permit mounting of the top 4 or 5 MRDSs currently.on the market. My eyes are such that I require a red dot to shoot a handgun accurately and right now that is not possible.thanks to Walther's frugality.

Well as a consumer we want everything with the gun, all the plates that we can get + more stuff!
From a price point and company competitive point of view, I think it's a pretty good idea to have the consumer call them for whatever plate they want and they send it out.
Seems to work very good in the US, guys getting plates in a few days in many cases. You want to change optics, then it's on you to get a new plate.

What's needed is the right plate shipped by folks who know the differences and send the right one!

Customer Service is important.

Walther only has 4 available plates. C & H Precision out of Georgia makes a bunch more and will custom build as well. Gravel carries the C & H products on the defense side but doesn't have any in stock. You can get part numbers off the C & H website.

Update:

I returned the PPQ plate to Gravel, but they don't have the screws for the PDP plate in stock (or an ETA on their arrival).

Dissapointing experience all around. The wrong plate was sent out, they wouldn't ship the correct plate until the other was returned, and now that it is, they don't have the correct parts in stock.

For those on the fence - I'd consider holding off until Gravel has figured out supply chain.

I am gfar less than impressed with Gravel's performance on this one. The launch of a new pistol from a major manufacturer should have been firmly on their radar, and they should have been closely tracking the Optics Plate issue as the Achilles Heel of the process. As it is, they screwed up, then had no idea that they had screwed up because they weren't paying sufficient attention, and now we customers are left hanging with a bad taste in our mouths. It is far past time to sort yourselves the Fack out, Gravel!! I want my optics plate so that I can proprely shoot my new pistol for accuracy rather than basic function....

Hey guys,

We are very sorry for the mix up!! I looked into it and a few issues happened.

1) We wanted to try and make sure we offer Canadians the same deal as the US clients gets. Where as usually us Canadians don't get the same opportunities.

2) We wanted to try and service everyone asap but some staff jumped the gun before getting all the detailed specs on which plates fit which optics and fit on which pistols.

3) Unfortunately being a new program we are still waiting on the production of some of the plates which is causing a delay in some cases.

We will get everyone sorted out as fast as possible. Again we are sorry for any issues this has caused.

My Plate received yesterday. It utilizes the same screws that hold the factory cover in place. Installed mine yesterday, fits great, no gap between the DPP plate and the forward edge of the slide. Loctight on and will head to the range soon!

Great news! A member of the Gravel Team just reached out to me via PM to see what they can do about sorting the problem. THAT is proper customer service! Far better late than never. I am glad to hear that the plates are now shipping. I cannot wait to get to the range with my new PDP. The trigger is definitely the best striker-fired stock trigger currently on the market. It is easily the equal of any Apex or other branded after-market trigger that I have experience with. Equipped with an MRDS, the PDP ought to be a real tack-driver!

No luck finding Walther mags but apparently the Canik TP9SF magazines work in the PDP.

Good to know about the Canik mags.

I returned the PPQ Mounting plate well over a week ago, and still no RMR/Holosun Mounting Plate. I am assuming that Plate is in high demand and is therefore the delayed one described by Gravel above. Still bumming, sitting here with a new pistol that I cannot shoot....
