Found a handful of them in the snow when I was out shooting and they looked interesting. Brought them back home and scanned through my Hornady reloading manual to find a match but no luck. Rimmed cartridge of some kind obviously and seems to be 30cal by the measurements. What it is?

.303 British. Made by Dominion Arsenal. Mark VII - 174gr flat based spitzer bullet, cordite propellant. 1/4" diameter Berdan primer. There should be a date, although I cannot read the marks on the case head in the photo.

Looks like 1944 “44” production and also looks very much like the .303 brass that come out of a Mk II Ross Rifle (ask me how I know). Others with Mk II Ross rifles also experience high, rounded shoulders in their fired brass.

303 British. Dominion manufactured in Canada. The chambers vary so much in the LE milsurps & even
the P14s that you can easily see the difference on fired cases where more than one rifle has been used.
I have a 1910 Ross rifle that I had rebarrelled. Its chamber is quite tight compared to any milsurp 303
I have seen. [also has a .311 groove diameter.:)] Dave.
