Anyone recognize this?

I reached into a gun case at the end of a clinic and found this small spring clip.

I am guessing it is from one of my two Norc M14s. Looks like it would be a retainer of some kind; one person thought it was from the buttplate on an M14 but I did not see anywhere where it would be.

Anybody got any good ideas?

it looks like its from the fiberglass M14 stock. For the top buttplate screw, the metal nut goes into that clip and then they are both slid into the butt.

yup... that's exactly what it is.

That would be exactly right, seeing as how I still have the wood stocks and my gun case was under the table with the FG stocks stacked on it.

No wonder I couldn't find where it was supposed to go...

Tis also one of those elusive bits of M14 kit that most people end up doing other things like getting square nuts or epoxy filling the area because they don't have that clip.
