Has anyone here attempted to replicate the US miltary's MK-262 round that is made by Black Hills? It's a 77 Grain Sierra bullet designed for the AR-15 series of rifles and it is reportedly extremely accurate. I think I'm going to try and get the components to make my own MK-262 ammunition that is at least the same level of quality as the factory original.

Here is the link in case anyone is interesting in reading about it

This is a repost but these loads work great for me (note... these are at or near max loads so start about 10% lower and work up from there):

My service load:

- 77gr SMK
- 24.5gr Varget
- CCI 400
- Winchester brass
- 2812fps (20" colt 1:7" twist at 5000ft elev)

Where are you having luck finding the 77gr. bullets? How much do they go for? Do you have to buy them by the 100, or by 500 count boxes?

Thanks!

As per my post here I've had no luck finding any, even among the suggestions in the responses there. I get responses like "our order catalog only goes up to 69 grain" and "Ooooh, I dunno, let me take your number and I'll have someone call you back". Of course, no one ever calls back.

If anyone finds any, please let me know.

P&D in Edmonton sells them as does some target shooting supplier in Kamloops, I forget his name but he used to be on the board here and his prices where really good. There is also someone in the lowermain land that sells them but I don't know who.

I think we need to harass Wholesale to bring them in :dancingbanana:

Have you guy ever try the Hornady 75grain Amax, it work great out of my Tikka Varmint 223 with 8 twist rifling, Alittle over an Inchs at 300meter. I find Hornady Bullet are way better in prices than Sierra & Performance are much the sames.
And Also Hornady 80grain Amax, I will give that a try Next week!.

You can special order them from Russell's in Calgary now but they do not offer any firm shipping dates.... just when ever they happen to be bringing in an order.
