Just wondering what people are loading for their 5r's. Mine loves 168 smk, lapua brass, fed 210m primers, and 41.5 gr H4895 seated at 2.805", using redding premium dies

46.0 gr RL 17, 208amax, loaded very long.
(need further testing, but it's my go to load. Problem is something funny is happening. Might be temp instability)

175 SMK, 45 gr Varget (mag length works) - Buddies load.

175 VLD-H, 45 gr Varget (mag length works) - May be my go to load for future.

Middle weight rounds are always around 44.5-45.0 gr of varget it seems. Unless you want to get very hot.

That's pretty much the universal accuracy load for a .308 Win with IMR4895 as well. You can play around with IMR4895, IMR3031, IMR4064, Varget, BLC2 and W748 to see any differences, but either of the 4895s are pretty much the gold standard for the .308.

I tried playing around with seating depths and the closer I got to the lands the worse the accuracy got, which I thought was odd because of the long throat on the 5r. Guess mine likes some jump

Rem 700's have very long chambers. Likely for lawyering.

Jump is depenant on bullet. Some like it, some don't. I can't say I saw tremendous gains but there was some. The other issue is the 208 is a big pill compared to the 168's. With that much powder its a very compressed load at 2.8-2.9ish for my AI mags. I have done it though.

Ive had some awesome nodes at 44.5 gr varget, lapua, gm210m, 175 smks to oal 2.800". Then same as above but charged with 44.7 grs so im going to try .1gr above/below.

The best loading same as above but 43.5 gr varget. I had a 10 shot group at 100m, with 1 flier (i pulled) at 1.041" and 0.651" without the flier (9shots). Im fairly impressed!

I had zero luck with 3031 i forgot what charges i had made (50 rounds with 10 charges) as i wrote it on masking tape that I've since discarded. I did see some good things from 4064 but only had 10 made up with 168 Nosler custom comp, gm210m and federal gold medal match brass. I've been told it's very similar to varget. So we will see.
